Twitter / Barack Obama: "Still a BFD": Appropriate Language for President?

President Obama used the acronym "BFD" on BarackObama's official Twitter account. This acronym refers to a four-letter word that the FCC bans from broadcast as inappropriate language. The president used the acronym in a reference to Vice President Joe Biden's accidental comment caught on mic, "This is a Big F*#!'** Deal" in reference to Obama's Affordable Care Act in March.

It could be worse, he could selling propaganda, selling arms to our enemies, or illegally taping his opponents. I guess it all depends on what is important to you.

"he could be selling propaganda" - Buying of News by Bush's Aides Is Ruled Illegal

    By ROBERT PEAR
    Published: October 1, 2005

WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 - Federal auditors said on Friday that the Bush administration violated the law by buying favorable news coverage of President Bush's education policies, by making payments to the conservative commentator Armstrong Williams and by hiring a public relations company to analyze media perceptions of the Republican Party.

"Let's start with the part that is the most controversial. A few months ago I told the American people I did not trade arms for hostages. My heart and my best intentions still tell me that's true, but the facts and the evidence tell me it is not."

What you are tired of his having your stupid reasoning thrown back in your face. Every time you bring up something you don't like about President Obama, we show you how you more than tolerated the same action with Bush. You didn't mind him raining the debt limit. You didn't mind him increasing spending every year. You didn't mind anything he did and that is why you are sick and tire of the BS blame game.

I'm sorry you side with a party that is wrong on most things. I'm sorry you can't do your own home on your party and are called out on it all of the time. You must understand the subject matter of which you speak if you don't want to be continually corrected. Many up or get the HELL OUT. In other words, do your homework, know your party, and don't vote with your emotions.

I hope this helps. There will be no charge for this session.

Like I said, you don't hold your party to the same standards you hold others. You don't care that Romney RAISED taxes when he was governor because he's a Republican. You don't care that Romney took his state from 37th in the nation for job creation all the way up to 47th in job creation. Or, did I say up, I meant to say down. You don't care that the same plan he want to put American though added $1.3 billion dollars to the state's deficit.

When was the last time the Republicans didn't add to the national debt?

I don't think most people look down on people who curse anymore. And I don't think people revere the presidency the way they once did. Through most of my lifetime, people only respect the presidency, if the president is from their side of the political spectrum.

Intelligent (not necessarily educated) people do. Shows a lack of educated vocabulary and disregard for being offensive.
  • Bibliop... J 2012/06/29 23:07:55

False. The mere use of profanity does not make one stupid or uneducated. Sure, using this word or another every other frequently will appear crass, but using one 'curse word' can not be compared to a constant stream of f-bombs (which would get old). Sometimes a few obscenities are necessary and fitting in order to get the point across.

What is inherently offensive about the word? Originally it only referred to sex. What is so offensive about sex?
  • J Bibliop... 2012/07/03 19:08:25
    J
It makes one tactless and they DO appear to be less intelligent - especially when they fail to use a proper adjective or adverb for the sake of a more "low-class" curse word.

The man has a law degree from Harvard. He's written some of the most eloquent speeches in the last 20 years, one of which was before he even had people writing them for him. I don't think he's in much danger of any objective person questioning his intelligence or vocabulary.
  • J elijahin24 2012/07/03 19:06:28
    J
I question his intelligence. And many scholars are now questioning the "writing" of his book. And we have yet to read any of his "law school" writings.

yeah, I said an objective person. I could have said a reasonable person, and it would have qualified the statement just as effectively.

BEFORE? He didn't write "Dreams of my Father." So, how "before" are you talking?

He did, actually. He also wrote "The Audacity of Hope". But why let facts stand in the way?
