Before you know it, taxes will be due. I know a bunch of people who want to get a head start in doing their taxes. TurboTax was the leading tax prep software, giving people a way to do their taxes affordably and confidently. However, TurboTax lost a lot of customers when it tried to gouge them by jacking up the price of the software and charging a printing fee to make money off people who used one copy of the software to do taxes for their whole family. TurboTax has since realized their mistake, but some customers have already switched to other brands like Tax Cut.

Do you use computer programs like TurboTax or Tax Cut to do your taxes or do you have another way?

I used to use turbo tax, untill the IRS pulled my return for review. They said its cause I was getting a large amount back and since i prepared my own taxes it looked "suspicious" threw all of my finances off (paying off credit cards ect.), i didnt get my refund till like 6 months after I should have. So now I pay and buy audit protection. Why cant they do stuff like that to geichtner and daschle?? I was a newly divorced single mom, good thing there looking out for the bad guys.....

I do my own taxes by hand.

I do my taxes myself and then take it to H&R; block and let them put it in the system. I have done my taxes every year and I haven't had a problem with them yet.

yes it is! it only cost me about 100. Its easy to do it yourself. The book tells you step by step what to do.

I can't say that they are actually hired by us. The base has a tax assistance center. My husband does our taxes ahead of time, then we go there to verify we didn't miss anything and they file it for us, on whatever software they are using.

I have had thesame tax preparer for like 15 years and I trust her implicitly and got a couple of friends in to see her while she was still accepting clients which I don't believe she has been for several years because she's that good. She is fair, knows her stuff and is an all-around terrific person. Don't know who to go to when she retires so hoping she can give me a reference because I don't trust anyone else.

yeah im still in skool so i donta hafta do taxes but my mom & dad use turbotax they like it cuz my mom owns a small biz & it makes it easier i guess.

Oh yea, nice new avator.... it is free to do it online? I just hate putting to much personal info on the computer... I know they say it is safe, but they say that about everything. LOL- honestly....don't they though? even poor old peanut butter isn't safe anymore.. chicken and so on.... Love n Peace my friend, Barefoot:)

Thanks Barefoot! It is free if your AGI meets their guidelines...like under a certain amount. This is my ninth year, and knock on wood, I haven't had any problems.

Thank you I am sure my AGI doesn't exceed any guidelines at this point in time....thx, for the great info. I will check it out on Wednesday I will be off work. I am so glad I found a job...
