True Story Of Gun Control

Birthpangs 2012/08/12 11:35:11
You!
Add Photos & Videos

You're sound asleep when you hear a thump outside your bedroom door.
Half-awake, and nearly paralyzed with fear, you hear muffled whispers.

At least two people have broken into your house and are moving your way.
With your heart pumping, you reach down beside your bed and pick up your shotgun.
You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it.
In the darkness, you make out two shadows.
One holds something that looks like a crowbar.

When the intruder brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire.
The blast knocks both thugs to the floor.
One writhes and screams while the second man crawls to the front door and lurches outside.
As you pick up the telephone to call police, you know you're in trouble.
In your country, most guns were outlawed years before, and the few that are privately owned are so stringently regulated as to make them useless. Yours was never registered.

Police arrive and inform you that the second burglar has died.
They arrest you for First Degree Murder and Illegal Possession of a Firearm.
When you talk to your attorney, he tells you not to worry: authorities will probably plea the case down to manslaughter. "What kind of sentence will I get?" you ask.
"Only ten-to-twelve years," he replies, as if that's nothing.

"Behave yourself, and you'll be out in seven."

The next day, the shooting is the lead story in the
local newspaper. Somehow, you're portrayed as an eccentric vigilante while the two men you shot are represented as choirboys.
Their friends and relatives can't find an unkind word to say about them.
Buried deep down in the article, authorities acknowledge that both "victims" have been arrested numerous times. But the next day's headline says it all:
"Lovable Rogue Son Didn't Deserve to Die."

The thieves have been transformed from career criminals into Robin Hood-type pranksters..
As the days wear on, the story takes wings.
he national media picks it up, then the international media.
The surviving burglar has become a folk hero.
Your attorney says the thief is preparing to sue you, and he'll probably win.

The media publishes reports that your home has been burglarized several times in the past and that you've been critical of local police for their lack of effort in apprehending the suspects.
After the last break-in, you told your neighbor that you would be prepared next time.
The District Attorney uses this to allege that you were lying in wait for the burglars.
A few months later, you go to trial.

The charges haven't been reduced, as your lawyer had so confidently predicted.
When you take the stand, your anger at the injustice of it all works against you.
Prosecutors paint a picture of you as a mean, vengeful man.
It doesn't take long for the jury to convict you of all charges.
The judge sentences you to life in prison. This case really happened.

On August 22, 1999, Tony Martin of Emneth, Norfolk , England , killed one burglar and wounded a second. In April, 2000, he was convicted and is now serving a life term.
How did it become a crime to defend one's own life in the once great British Empire ?
It started with the Pistols Act of 1903. This seemingly reasonable law forbade selling pistols to minors or felons and established that handgun sales were to be made only to those who had a license. The Firearms Act of 1920 expanded licensing to include not only handguns but all firearms except shotguns.. Later laws passed in 1953 and 1967 outlawed the carrying of any weapon by private citizens and mandated the registration of all shotguns.

Momentum for total handgun confiscation began in earnest after the Hungerford mass shooting in 1987. Michael Ryan, a mentally disturbed man with a Kalashnikov rifle, walked down the streets shooting everyone he saw. When the smoke cleared, 17 people were dead.
The British public, already de-sensitized by eighty years of "gun control", demanded even tougher restrictions. (The seizure of all privately owned handguns was the objective even though Ryan used a rifle.)

Nine years later, at Dunblane, Scotland, Thomas Hamilton used a semi-automatic weapon to murder 16 children and a teacher at a public school. For many years, the media had portrayed all gun owners as mentally unstable, or worse, criminals.
Now the press had a real kook with which to beat up law-abiding gun owners.
Day after day, week after week, the media gave up all pretense of objectivity and demanded a total ban on all handguns.
The Dunblane Inquiry, a few months later, sealed the fate of the few sidearms still owned by private citizens.

During the years in which the British government incrementally took away most gun rights, the notion that a citizen had the right to armed self-defense came to be seen as vigilantism.
Authorities refused to grant gun licenses to people who were threatened, claiming that self-defense was no longer considered a reason to own a gun.

Citizens who shot burglars or robbers or rapists were charged while the real criminals were released.

Indeed, after the Martin shooting, a police spokesman was quoted as saying,
"We cannot have people take the law into their own hands."
All of Martin's neighbors had been robbed numerous times, and several elderly people were severely injured in beatings by young thugs who had no fear of the consequences. Martin himself, a collector of antiques, had seen most of his collection trashed or stolen by burglars.

When the Dunblane Inquiry ended, citizens who owned handguns were given three months to turn them over to local authorities. Being good British subjects, most people obeyed the law.
The few who didn't were visited by police and threatened with ten-year prison sentences if they didn't comply. Police later bragged that they'd taken nearly 200,000 handguns from private citizens. How did the authorities know who had handguns?
The guns had been registered and licensed. Kind of like cars. Sound familiar?

WAKE UP AMERICA; THIS IS WHY OUR FOUNDING FATHERS PUT THE SECOND AMENDMENT IN OUR CONSTITUTION.

"...It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds.."
--Samuel Adams

If you think this is important, please forward to everyone you know.

You had better wake up, because Obama is doing this very same thing, over here, if he can get it done.
The UN Small Arms Treaty that Hilary is negotiating would take away our 2nd Amendment rights. And there are stupid people in congress and on the street that will go right along with him.

Just remember - the reason the Japanese didn't invade the USA is because they knew that Most of the citizens were armed.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

(The Second Amendment to the US Constitution)

So… what does this mean to you and me and the average American citizen? It means that you, as a citizen, have a right to own and use firearms, for defense of your self and family, to hunt for food and to help, with your neighbors, be the last line of defense in the event of another nation attacking our own.

Although positioned second in the bill of rights, this right to keep and bear arms is actually first among equals. Without this right, we wouldn’t have the others and we would still be subject to the rule of the monarchy in England. Yes, if there had been “gun control” back in 1776 the citizens and patriots of the time would not have had the means to secure our freedom.

Oppressive regimes throughout just the past century have first sought to find and remove weapons from the hands of the citizenry before making radical change and oppressing the people.

    Check out these facts…

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

    __________

Before WWII started, Hilter explained why he made it illegal for Jews to have guns and why he had to confiscate them….

“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing.”

    - Adolf Hitler

(Another quote, many people like to reference and attribute to Hitler is the following:

This year will go down in history! For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!

(As dramatic as it seems, It has been proven to be bogus.)

(Just something to think about. You may not want a gun in your house, but you might be glad you neighbor has one in his.)

    Again, why the controversy?

Liberals in politics almost invariably want to restrict gun ownership among the citizens. They say that guns cause crime or that you are more likely to shoot yourself or a family member if you have a gun in your home. Each time there is a shooting or a mass killing, they stand in front of the TV cameras and cry that we need more gun control. Even worse is when they say they want to outlaw all guns in the country, sure that taking guns out of the hands of citizens would end gun violence.

Every statistic proves them to be fools.

    A few more facts…

Fact: The murder rates in many nations were ALREADY LOW BEFORE enacting gun control. Thus, their restrictive laws cannot be credited with lowering their crime rates.

Fact: Gun control has done nothing to keep crime rates from rising in many of the nations that have imposed severe firearms restrictions.

    * Australia: Readers of the USA Today newspaper discovered in 2002 that, “Since Australia’s 1996 laws banning most guns and making it a crime to use a gun defensively, armed robberies rose by 51%, unarmed robberies by 37%, assaults by 24% and kidnappings by 43%. While murders fell by 3%, manslaughter rose by 16%.”

    * Canada: After enacting stringent gun control laws in 1991 and 1995, Canada has not made its citizens any safer. “The contrast between the criminal violence rates in the United States and in Canada is dramatic,” says Canadian criminologist Gary Mauser in 2003. “Over the past decade, the rate of violent crime in Canada has increased while in the United States the violent crime rate has plummeted.”

    * England: According to the BBC News, handgun crime in the United Kingdom rose by 40% in the two years after it passed its draconian gun ban in 1997

So… Either the left wants to oppress or slaughter a group of people they don’t like, or they want our crime rate to rise so we can keep up with the rest of the world. What do YOU think?

Another thing that's left out of that tail is the Racist, and Classist Side of Gun Control.

Many if not most of the Gun Control Laws we have were either created too, or have the effect of limiting firearms access to people of a certain race or class.

NYC's Sullivan Act was aimed specifically at disarming Italian Immigrants.

Florida Supreme Court ruled as late as the 1940's that laws banning gun carry applied only to Blacks.

After the Civil War Tennessee banned the sale of all handguns but the expensive ARMY & NAVY revolvers. Since most Confederate Veterans already had one of these revolvers, the target of the ban were the newly freed slaves.

Jim Crow Laws requiring Gun Registration or Permits were passed in many southern states. They were used to prohibit gun ownership by Blacks, or as a record of who to disarm before the Klan visited an area.

The current MAY ISSUE Carry Permit Systems that several States have, were started during that same period. They allowed the local Sheriff to decide who would be allowed to carry a gun, so he could keep minorities unarmed.

Even the Ban on "Saturday Night Specials" from more recent history targeted the type of gun most commonly purchased by poor minorities for self defense.

In fact many cops at the time referred to the guns as Ni&&er-town; Specials.

A United Kingdom friend posted we don't have guns in our Country, when we were discussing the shooting in New York. So I asked him nicely because we were friends does the Government in your Country have guns, and he said, well yes. I asked him does the military have guns, and he asnwered well, yes. I asked him does certain law enforcement, and special agents personnel have guns, and he again asnwered yes. Then I asked do you think some of the criminals in your Country have guns and he said well yes.
So I then said well in other words your Country does have guns, just not the law-abiding citizen.....
My friend doesn't get the fact that his Government can impose anything they want on the citizens because they have all the guns. Ask a Hitler survivor about disarming the citizens.....

I refer to anyone when I say this.
If you wait for the police to save you then quickly say your prayers as it means the end of you. Keep in mind that prayers only work if you have a gun to back them up. If you don't have a gun then the police will collect your dead body, clean up the mess and eventually catch the killer. If that is good enough for you then by all means do not carry a gun.
The dictators of all stripes always disarm the citizens as it makes their job dictating much easier and safer for them.

Gun Control isn't necessarily the edict of a dictator (though it certainly may be)... It is what anyone who doesn't like guns in the hands of citizens tries to push for... It is the misguided thought process that making guns illegal will reduce gun-related crime...

Outlawing guns will make it so only the outlaws will have them- this is true... they will always be able to get guns... outlawing them will not make it any more difficult for them to get them... it simply ties the hands even more of law-abiding citizens...

Guns don't kill people, idiots with guns do- this is also true... but outlawing guns won't keep guns out of the hands of idiots who are out to hurt or kill with them...

Is it not also true that in the end, it is quite often that same criminal element that the dictator could not control and thusly, ends up being his downfall? LOL...

And/or the citizenry says to hell with it, gets their hands on guns and revolts...

I am thinking, regardless of who wins the election, sooner or later this country will go through yet another revolution... the severity of it, nature of it, and the course it takes will depend on the circumstances at the time... I just hope that when it happens, it will be well-thought out by people of a level mind, not by crackpots who will merely swap one set of problems for another...

I disagree... Obama, Romney, it matters not... I do not think that this country's issues will be straightened by either... or even by their successors... I firmly believe it is going to take something huge to dig this country out of the hole it's digging itself deeper and deeper into...

Don't get me wrong... it's by far still the greatest country in the world to live in...

We didn't have all these random psychotic shootings years ago, in the US, before the Unconstitutional gun control laws. Puts things in perspective doesn't it?

History has proven time and time again that gun control does NOT work!

First thing I'm going to do when I turn 21 is get a pistol. I'm tired of liberals saying our guns won't be taken away while also pushing restriction laws- it's like being offered honey at the sharp end of a stick, as if private citizens who want to take their own safety into consideration are blind to what's happening.

Remember the “died in the wool, tree hugging, bleeding heart liberal, democrat“ part. Unlike many (but surly not all) Democrats and Republicans, I have studied history. From a Republican’s point of view I may look like a communist sympathizer. We should all remember that one of the first things that Hitler did was take the guns away from the civilians and he was a right wing fascist pig (no offence intended to all you right wing fascist pigs out there). Without the right to have the means to protect one’s self and his loved ones from criminals and tyrants, terms like liberty and freedom have no teeth. Surly this should be self evident no mater witch side of the aisle you are on. So, not to put too fine a point on it, when the religious Christian or Mormon tyrants come to my door to force their theocracy down my throat, I will protect my right of freedom FROM religion and all they will see is 300 mm of bayonet and the muzzle of my Soviet made Mosin Nagant riffle. One nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
