IN TEXAS WE HAVE HAD AN INFLUX OF FLEEING CALIFORNIANS THAT ARE MORE LIKE ESCAPEES FROM CUBA. OUR LEGISLATURE MEETS ONCE EVERY TWO YEARS AND THEN GOES HOME. OUR GOVERNOR CAN'T DO MUCH AND WE LIKE IT THAT WAY. WE ARE TOTALLY BUSINESS FRIENDLY. HOUSTON HAS NO ZONING LAWS.PACK YOUR GUN, IT'S OK AND IT KEEPS THE BAD GUYS GUESSING. WE HAVE LAND, LOW TAXES,AND CHEEP HOUSING. 1/2 OF ALL NEW JOBS ARE HERE...AND DALLAS IS BACK ON T.V.

Most of the new jobs in Texas are minimum wage jobs based on what I've read, it ranks at or near the bottom in many categories as this graph indicates.

i am so tired of hearing about most of the new jobs are not high wages...so that means what????NOT every job pays $1,000,000 , there are lots of folks who have minimal skills and are more than grateful to have a job. Texas is suppose to say"NO, TAKE YOUR PAYROLL OUT OF HERE"
NEXT...we are the second largest state in the country, so that means there is a good chance we will be in the top 10 on most things...true? The average cost of our homes is and has been well below other large cities and states. As for the highest homeowners insurance...I really do not pay that much for mine. I have no idea where that stat comes from, if we are the highest, then no one is paying much in any state.
FINALLY, we have the longest most porous boarder with mexico. if you go south and west of Austin you will see an overwhelmingly Mexican population, many of those folks go back and forth across the border, especially for child birth, we get stuck paying for a lot of kids that just happen to drop out here. every stat people talk about gets greatly exaggerated in this area, if removed from consideration we are a national leader in most positive indicates....and that is the truth.

You don't need to tell us the rest of us can pretty much tell most of the people in Texas have very little skills.
One of them that is pretty prevalent here is English comprehension.

I am so sick and tired of displaced Californians whining about how it was back home. If things were so damned peachy there, they wouldn't be here and we wouldn't have to listen to them.

I hear the same thing here,in Tennessee, from transplanted Californians & other refugees from Blue State America,that I had come across .The few that gripe about how things are done around here.I then I asked them why they left their "wonderful"progressive state to come to my "backward" state of TN.They tell me their high local and state taxes,high cost of living & no job opportunities in their home states forced them to relocate to Tennessee.

Then I say that's why things are done diffidently around here.Because we don't have Local & State Income Taxes.And being a "Right to Work" state keeps the labor unions in line around here.In all,the cost of living are among the lowest in the country.And there are still jobs to be found,in my local area are because of "That's how things are done around here!" usually gets them to shut up!
