Topeka homeowner fatally shoots intruder

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Topeka police say a resident shot and killed
a man who was trying to break into his home.

Police found a man dead after being called to the home
Thursday evening.


A man at the home told police that the suspect had tried to break
into his house. The resident wasn't injured.


Witnesses told police they saw other men fleeing from the scene.
Police say they are looking for at least one other suspect.

    The rule is as simple as it is universal, folks. Stay out of other people's homes unless you're invited. To me it makes no difference whether you're a freelance crim, or one to whom society in its infinite stupidity gave a gun and a badge. Stay the hell OUT of other people's homes!

    If everyone knew how and actually DID self-defend, such crimes would virtually disappear. We can self-defend, or we can wait until 911 sends someone to "investigate" or to clean up the mess, or both.

    I live in Lawrence, Kansas (not too far away) and I already heard about this on the news. Kansas is generally not the place to attempt a home invasion if you are a criminal. A much greater percentage of the population have firearms in their homes than other states, and they know how to use them.
