The top spot is right, but I, for one, watched little of the OJ thing or the war. I don't think Casey Anthony should be on there, or anything relating to England's Royal family.

Most of the elections had amazing moments not just 2000 and 2008

.......... I believe, this list is better, the most important for sure, 9/11, that whole grief stricken days and weekend, the JFK assassination, Neil Armstrong setting his first footstep on the Moon, a sad time frame for American History, Richard Nixon and the cover up Watergate hearings and ultimate removal from office in total disgrace, this would be my most memorable TV coverage....... I'm sure there are many more, but these are additional ones I'm posting......... Neil Armstrong setting first foot on the Moon The Watergate Hearings with Sam Ervin

How did November 24, 1963 get left off the list? Thats the day when Lee Harvey Oswald was shot and killed on live tv. Thats something you don't see on tv everyday

That is weird! I think that is off base/incorrect. I don't know how much time this takes into account?

I don't think these three belong in the top 20...why would these be more important than the first American in space or the moon landing or the Berlin wall coming down?

    6. O.J. Simpson white Bronco chase (1994)

    11. Death of Whitney Houston (2012)

    19. Casey Anthony verdict (2011)

Wait, Neil Armstrong's first step on the moon was one of them and Whitney Houston's funeral is? Something is truly messed up there.

The list should be changed: 9/11, Hurricaine Katrina,Space Shuttle,Osama, then OJ.

I agree, although OJ's situation turned in to race issues. People thinking it was crooked cops and all of that. And the trail itself was huge in many of our lives, simply because we could watch it all unfold for months until the final day.

I thought many were spot on. However, some of the more recent ones were stretches. The one's I agreed with:

Some I thought were very valid:
    1. Sept. 11 tragedy (2001)
    2. Hurricane Katrina (2005)
    3. O.J. Simpson verdict (1995)
    4. Challenger space shuttle disaster (1986)
    6. O.J. Simpson white Bronco chase (1994)
    9. BP oil spill (2010)
    10. Princess Diana's funeral (1997)
    13. Barack Obama's acceptance speech (2008)
    15. Assassination of John F. Kennedy (1963)
    16. Oklahoma City bombing (1995)
    17. Bush/Gore election results (2000)
    18. L.A. riots (1992)
    20. Funeral of John F. Kennedy (1963)

Some I thought were important, but not quite in the top 20.
    5. Death of Osama bin Laden (2011)
    7. Earthquake in Japan (2011)
    8. Columbine High School shootings (1999)
    12. Capture and execution of Saddam Hussein (2006)

Some I didn't think were even close to the top 20.
    11. Death of Whitney Houston (2012)
    14. The Royal Wedding (2011)
    19. Casey Anthony verdict (2011)

    There are things missing like:
    - fall of the Berlin wall (1989)
    - collapse of communism (1989)
    - Pacific tsunami (2004)
    - US Olympic hockey victory over USSR (1980)
    - Atlanta Olympic Park Bombing (1996)
    - California Earthquake during the World Series (1989)
    - Eruption of Mt. Saint Helens (1980)

You took Osama's death completely off? That was very significant to what we have been trying to do in this war.

It was certainly important, but when it happened, I recall it being a sort of "it's happened - that's fantastic, but we can now change the channel and watch something else." Other things on the list caused me to keep my TV tuned for hours on end.

So, my removing it was not because I didn't find it important, but that it was not a major TV moment.
