Tony Blair, Middle East liaison?

The Bush administration would like to assign Prime Minister Tony Blair as the Middle East envoy for the Quartet consisting of the U.S. the European Union, Russia, and the U.N. The position has been empty since former World Bank chief James Wolfensohn resigned the post in April 2006. Can Blair make a difference? And should a American be offered the position?

    Tony Blair is a hero of civilization and is over-qualified for the post. He is one of the few liberals I would call wise and highly competent.

    Tony Blair has earned much more.

    I doubt any peace will ever come out of the middle east,But I love Tony Blair and think he is capable of the position but I don't think it will make a difference to those countries.

    He would likely have a higher standing with the major middle-eastern players than most Americans would.
