I don't live in America and if everyone was an America we'd need lots of food to keep everyone happy and healthy. Oh wait

But we are not the best, don't confuse that with me not liking ours the most.

By "commie bastard" I mean "not American" >.>

Also your title says "Are you a proud America" and I'm pretty sure no one on SH embodies America.

I'm proud to live in the United States of America.

But I don't like your other selection, which isn't a real choice. If you don't AGREE with someone else's political philosophy, that doesn't make them a bastard. Intolerance might make you one, however.

    Happy Birthday, America!

Seriously, how can anyone say the US is the best country without having lived in others?

How can u say it's not without living in others and if you have why didnt you stay there?

I can't say one way or the other without living in others. That was the whole point of my comment. To say it is without having done so is just ignorant.

You know I wish all the illegals flooding into America would think as you do

    What a silly response.
  • CAPISCE Rich 2012/07/11 16:21:59

Relly, why does America have the biggest problem with illegals? Why, because everyone wants to live here.

You don't happen to think the fact that we share a long common border with a poor country might have something to do with it?
  • CAPISCE Rich 2012/07/12 03:50:08
    CAPISCE
Sure it does but what about the immigrants from the rest of the world? America has more new citizens from other countries than anywhere else year after year---why is that?
  • Rich CAPISCE 2012/07/12 14:37:56
    Rich
We're a free country, and we're also a a large one. Plus, people want to join their relatives already here. That's only natural.
I was in Australia last yr. There were immigrants everywhere, especially Asians. It's a matter of geography.
I'm not saying this is not a good place to live. However, I can think of at least three places I've traveled (Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, specifically British Columbia) that I found at least as appealing. That's why I think it's presumptuous to say we must be the best.

That's great---I answer everyone the same way---if you like another country better don't complain----move
  • Rich CAPISCE 2012/07/16 01:57:27

There are practical reasons why that is not realistic. I see right-wingers today still believe in that wretched old saw, "Love it or leave it."

Could have fooled me. Why do you think we should assume we have the best country without having seen all of the others?
  • CAPISCE Rich 2012/07/16 15:25:39

I have been in several----I liked them all but still wasn't as good as the usa in my opinion.

I'm curious. Why do you like the US better than Australia? As for the rest of your response, shouldn't you be able to answer yes to any free country before asserting we're the best.

Well I can't visit every country, I wish I could. I really loved Italy as far as Australia I don't want to piss anyone off but the traffic flow in the city was horrible, the food was not good and very expensive, the people in the metro areas were rude although the people in the rural areas were very nice and down to earth, the night life was average at best.

Interesting. I liked Italy but not nearly as much as Australia. As far as driving, it's not as bad as Southern Cal, and there is excellent public transportation. As for rude people, even been to NYC?
Btw, I'm leaving tomorrow morning for Northern Europe, so tonight will be my last time in Sodahead for a while.

We're far apart. As one example, I was standing in one of two lines at a deli and decided to buy some chips. I couldn't reach them, but the guy standing alongside me in the other line could. I asked if he could get me a bag, and he glared at me as if I just asked for a handout. Nor was this incident unusual.

I will say this: NYC has the best plays by far.
This is it for me for 2 1/2 weeks.
