It was Chief Justice John Roberts that messed up the words to the oath. Not badly, but enough so that Obama tried to accommodate the mistake by pausing so that Roberts could correct himself.
The oath as it's laid out in the Constitution:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States. "
Roberts said "that I will execute the office of President of the United States faithfully"
It was an akward moment that took Obama a bit by surprise and he was only trying to maintain continuity. I mean good grief...how friggin' hard is it to memorize 35 words?!
TODAY OBAMA MADE A MISTAKE DURING THE INAUGERATION!!!!!!!!
