To my liberal flag burning anti american AMERICANS.. YOU SEEM TO HAVE FORGOTTEN

iamnothere 2012/07/06 14:41:42
Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States , people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented.

Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.

They had waved goodbye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.
Most of thei children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought alongside men whose parents had come straight over from Germany , Italy , France and Japan . None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America as one people.

When we liberated France , no one in those villages were looking for the French American, the German American or the Irish American. The people of France saw only AMERICANS. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.

And here we are with a new kind of immigrant some who want the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.
And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn't start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.

KEEP THIS LETTER MOVING. FOR THE WRONG THINGS TO PREVAIL, THE RIGHTFUL MAJORITY NEEDS TO REMAIN COMPLACENT AND QUIET.

God, PLEASE Bless America AGAIN!!1900 ellis island1900 ellis island1900 ellis island1900 ellis island1900 ellis island1900 ellis islandmexicans in usamexicans in usamexicans in usa

We badly need immigration reform. Half of the illegals in this country came by air on a work or student visa. Those visas expired and nothing happened. Many have been here for 20-30 years. Although half of our illegals are Hispanic by way of land geography, we also have illegal Europeans, Canadians, Indians, South Americas, Africans, Cubans, and now more illegal Chinese cross our southern border than Hispanic.

Yet any time illegals are portrayed, it it always the same pictures of brown skinned people. That's who people want to round up.

Illegals have been shunned for decades. At one time there were signs in NYC store windows, saying " No Irish". Those stinking 'Polanders' ( Polish) were not welcome in neighborhoods. The Chinese were abused laying railroad tracks. Anyone Italian was thought to be corrupt. The English were 'uppity' and failed to assimilate ( or so people thought). So the prejudice has always been there. Reagan dealt with it by granting amnesty. GWB laid immigration reform on the table 4 times, the last time in 2007. Congress woud not touch it. Obama offered the same Dream Act. It was shot down, so he dealt with one faction only .

There is a reason this Congress has the lowest approval of any in history. Immigration is one of many reasons.

Maybe it is because most of these other folks keep a low profile and don't bring attention to themselves by their blatant defiance of our laws. Mexicans walk into this this country like it is their own, waving their flag and thumbing their nose at the folks that have gone through the proper steps to become citizens. And if that isn't enough even the mexican gov't considers the US it's own cash cow and makes it's own demands on the American taxpayer to support these invaders. Our penal system is breaking down in an effort to deal with an influx of drug dealers, murderers and thieves from south of the border. Letting criminals out on the streets to make room for more in the prisons seems sort of stupid. I live in a state that has wall to wall illegals and I'm damn sick of all that bird flying and crotch grabbing. Don't tell me they don't speak english.

If that were true, why did so many millions come here before? I can certainly understand your desire to not be paying for these people, and I don't want to pay for them either, but the problem is much more complex than your post intimates. The truth is that with or without all the added benefits they may be getting, illegal immigrants will ALWAYS want to come here because no matter the hardships here, it is still better than the crapholes they came from. And that, my friend, is the truth whether you wish to acknowledge it or not.

It is up to our federal government to enforce the immigration laws. They have failed to do that for decades. I don't blame immigrants for wanting to come here to better themselves - I blame the federal government for not having the guts to enforce our laws and removing them when found.
