To be a police officer, you can't have an arrest record. Do you think that permits to carry a concealed hand gun should make the same requirement.

Actually in Florida you can't have a permit for carrying an gun with any violent arrests for a time period that is.

I don't agree with either option and you are factually incorrect. There are a number of states, probably all of them, in which individuals with misdemeanor records can be police officers. Additionally an arrest record is usually not held against a CCW applicant unless the arrest actually led to a conviction.

Arrest record, so even if you are innocent you can't carry a handgun (not saying Zimmerman is an innocent man). If you feel safe walking around in an American city without protection go ahead, but please don't impose your beliefs on anyone else, I thought this was something liberals cared about (by something i mean not imposing beliefs)

Even felons should be eligible. If not imprisoned, one has a right of self defense. If not trustworthy, they should not be released.

Not only is an arrest record permanent. There is no way to get it expunged short of a petition to the court to do so and the courts are very unwilling to expunge anyones record.
