Face it, while Obama had some very passionate supporters (I am one), there were just as many people running away FROM the Republicans and the conservative movement to vote them out of office.

The Fifth Estate media complex was complicit. And, there was a herd mentality that was a direct response to Alinsky principles brought to life through some very Goebbels-like tactics. Sorry to see you still think the parties in power are different. The parties have been playing between the 40 yard lines for over half a century and they bet on the population squabbling over their "favorite team" as a distractor. The overall situation is darker than you perceive.

The media is far from a perfect institution, but the idea of rejecting the full spectrum in order to run to Fox in order to avoid being manipulated is like jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire.

This would be a proper assessment if the underlying assumption that all conservatives consume Fox were true. I can speak for myself and most of my contemporaries by stating this is far from the truth. There are a lot of people, myself included, that are fed up with commercial media of all flavors.

Well, at the end of the day I would rather them be left to market forces than government forces. Historically, that dynamic has had some disastrous outcomes.

C-Span seems to operating in it's own special sphere of independence. It doesn't need to justify the content of it's programming with ratings. Similarly PBS operates largely through grants and donations and has maintained a similar sphere of independence as well.

I agree mostly with that. It does seem that the few times I have viewed CSPAN II, they have been fairly neutral. I do take exception to PBS. They do receive government subsidies and not all of the programing I have viewed has been directly over the "center of mass" of some issues. However, the main point is we have choices now due to market oriented media. Take those away and we have only one choice. And if there is only one option...there is really no choice. And in this case, information would be another commodity allocated by central planning.

It's not sheepish to research.

I'm a news "junkie", I love to search to full spectrum, then play each source off against each other to try to get an accurate reading on the issue of the day. The idea that since I don't get all my information from a single source somehow makes me a "sheeple" has it completely backwards.

LOL....I watch all the so-called real "news" programs..it's painful at times, but I keep an open mind. I tend to find that FOX news is the only station that is truly fair and balanced..whether I like it or not. At least I know I'm getting the facts, not an agenda. If I want to hear an agenda, I watch Gibbs on c-span.

Yeah, Geraldo is out there on certain issues....especially immigration reform. But because he has a platform like FOX to speak his mind, we get all sides. I heard a great term today to describe ILLEGAL Immigrants in our country...CRIMIGANTS. That's basically what they are..immigrants that come to our country unlawfully, without having to go through the legalities of OUR laws. They are criminals for breaking the USA laws of becoming a citizen. But the far left politicians care more about the illegal's rights(none)...than the hard working Americans rights. Laws are called LAWS for a reason..unless your an illegal these days in this country. We now need to have "compassion and sympathy" for the the CRIMIGANTS in our country, according to the Far Left. My grandparents game to our country off the boat in the late 20's, and they took lessons to speak English and wanted to be AMERICANS!
