Those of you who attend church faithfully, every Sunday...what do you REALLY think of those of us (yes, me too) that do not

**Bessie** 2009/05/24 02:47:43
You!

I'm just curious...I know what my friends and family think. I call some of them hypocrites, because they do not practice what they preach, and boy do they like to preach!

You don't need to go to a church to be a good christian. Just a have faith and live your life. And believe in Jesus.

    Good post Baby

As long as you have admitted that you are a sinner and that you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior by believing that he did die on the cross for your sins and ask Him into your heart, then you will have eternal life with Him in Heaven. If you Praise Him and Pray often and read the His Word, you will be fine. Church is for people who want to grow more Spiritually. I attend Church regularly and also work for one.

I believe that it's good for the soul to attend church every week. It's good to get together with other believers and worship. Plus, a church family can be a good support system during hard times too. But I don't feel that it is my place to judge others who do not attend church. That is between them and God. Only God knows a person's heart. I will leave that to Him. :)

I don't attend church and mainly because I cannot stand sitting in a building where the majority of people there point fingers at everyone else after the service. From who wore what to what Suzie was doing at the club and who she was "rubbing" all up against. I have come across many beautiful people and the majority did not attend church. And like you said, I have found many who are just hypocrites.
That's not to say there are a few who are very good people and who do the best they can and those are the ones who don't judge me for the path I have decided to walk.
And who said you need a church to worship God and his ways?

as i've told you Bessie i'm Catholic. yet i don't go to church every Sunday either . there is a verse in the Bible though that says something along the lines of " Where ever two or more are gatherd in His name He is there also ' to me that means that you don't need to be in the building to attend church although attending does have a positive impact on us

Most of the people who go to church on Sundays are 7th day Christians... The implication is that they aren't very christian the other 6 days of the week.

That said, I'd rather not go than know in my heart I'm a hypocrite.

i think... church is a great place! its somewhere where its peaceful, helpful, its just awesome! i wouldnt think anything bad about the people that dont go to church! church is just a house were we worship God, its really about wats in ur hearts! i just hope that u guys would have that great experience someday! but its not our job to judge anyone, and i try and stay very truthful on that! im no one to judge! im just a regular christian girl, that messes up most of the times, but i keep on getting up...and i keep going forward!

he has for you but the help you can be for others in the local church and you need a regular diet of his word
and message just for you at the local church.
also the Prayers and support of the church family

I think its your decision and you have your reasons why you don't go. Its not mine to judge you. It took me a long time to finally find a church home, lots of church hopping and trying out different ones. I am so lucky I found one, and I hope I never leave it.

It should be a "Heart thing" that makes you want to go.I go to praise the Lord, to fellowship with His children,to hear the Word taught, and to hear good, uplifting music and song." It's a Blessing"!I know some go out of duty, or for other reasons, but if you know Jesus Christ,I believe your heart will say"Let's Go"!If you don't know Him,you really don't understand.I didn't before.

Well I go to church every Saturday not Sunday but I always wish that I could take everyone with me to church.
However if you don't want to go to church that is a private decision and no one should force you to go.
If you believe or don't believe in God is up to you.
As long as I still believe in God then I'm happy.

    Hello:

I, for one, do not attend church on Sunday. I believe it to be a capitalistic religious pay-day for all the denomations. In my opinion, people go to church for fear they will go to hell if they do not. In my case, I am already going to hell and I cannot go there twice. Bye: Adam Troy

if you pray God will lead you to the right group of believers... most churches today are lost causes anyway... i mean if you don't dress, act, perform, or bow to they're begging, you are not welcome...

    Bessie ..

I -- too -- have reflected on this question at various times in my life .. and have read down through quite a few of the responses that your thoughtful question has generated.

In another related poll -- there was the question -- on the aspect of PERSONAL Faith ..

In a lot of cases .. there is the impression that there is a 'necessity' to be in a FORMAL building .. be there on a regular schedule .. to present a formal 'presence' .. to gather ..

However, my experiences have been that in the FORMAL buildings (like others have posted below) - - I have seen a lot of the "sickness" -- the prejudice, the hatreds, the open greed .. the 'holier than thou' .. that seems (at times) to be so .. false.

For what I think of when I reflect on the Grace of God/Higher Power is a LOVING presence .. one who allowed me to be born .. to breathe .. to experience life ..

this God/Higher power is NOT Greed comsumate .. is not abusive .. but does TEST our faith by the various experiences we have .. that either let us choose to be STRONG and overcome (or just find another path .. one that let's us still progress) ... or hide our heads in the sand and be defeated ..
