Washington generally doesn't get many tornadoes or hurricanes.
But good luck if your area does!

I live in Southwest florida, it gets scary when you hear" evacuate" . My first hurricane was Wilma in 2005, the build up of the hurricane is what got to me. I opened up the front door when the worst part was coming over our home it was a big adrenaline rush. The bad part is no gas stations opened, everything is closed and people running around like crazy.

Anybody who is should move somewhere that hurricanes don't occur. We cannot live life fearing every natural disaster. None of us gets out of this life alive so take the necessary precautions and face life with courage!

I've been through 7 hurricanes - some like Charley, Frances, and Jeanne in 2004 were major storms. I don't like all the preparation, power outages, and clean-up though. I have 2 Southern Red Maple Trees that need to have their tops trimmed off - that's my biggest concern right now.

I have expienced a Massive Hurricane, before; and I don't mean some political plumbing problem from St. Bernard Parish, just south of New Orleans!! . . . I am referring to 9/11/61 . . . Hurricane Carla . . . Which left seaweed dangling off of Telephone Wires, 8-miles inland . . . And Jelly Fish out in the middle of pastures, where no one could ever believe that the Atlantic Ocean, by way of the Gulf of Mexico, could ever reach. Even after I witnessed the disaster, I still couldn't believe it. Hundreds of miles of Ocean Water; not backed-up Bayous, Creeks, and Rice Canals, that would normally flow into a River; but THE BEACH!!! It is frightening when you think in terms of 4-5-or-600-Miles of that, all along the Coast . . . .

I'm more worried about a question about Hurricanes that uses a picture of a Tornado.

Hurricanes tend to spawn tornadoes. From the hurricanes I've gone through, most of the time the tornadoes were on the weak side of the hurricane.

I live on Long Beach Island - off the New Jersey Shore. Nothing protects it. We were evacuated last year with Hurricane Irene. Nothing happened to our house - but that little island is a time bomb waiting to happen.

I live 40 miles from the shore, with enough hills and trees to seriously diminish any hurricane that heads my way.

I grew up on Wrightsville Beach (an island off the coast of NC) and have been through some bad ones: Diana, Floyd, Bertha, Hugo, Fran....the list is long. I'm glad I live inland now because evacuating sucks and coming home to a trashed house sucks even more. I'm happy not to have to worry myself over them anymore.

I wouldn't be worried if it was mother nature but it's man who is messing with the wealther. They are going to ended up destroying human kind,it's so "Hot" this year it has broken a record in the "Heat" look at the temperature across the states? Many places are in a "Drought" so higher prices in food and water is "Evaporating"! We need water in order to live, the human body is 80% of water! You better stack up on bottle water,a word of wisdom!
