    Living in south Florida, and having been through Andrew, Katrina, and others...You bet I am....It's very scary, the damage and destruction is unbelievable.

    Last year's hurricane season was supposed to be above average. So was the year before. We haven't had a good hurricane in the Gulf since Ike in 2007.

    I'm a couple of hundred miles inland. Hurricanes dissipate heat, and it has been a warm summer. Hang on for some big storms.

    I don't live near the coast, but even if I did, there's not much to do but be prepared for one. They have caused flooding in my area after moving ashore and creating the heavy rains though, which was terrible, but what can you do.

    The so-called experts have predicted a nastier than normal hurricane season for the last 4 or 5 years and the seasons have been a complete bust. What makes you so sure their suddenly going to be accurate now?

    No, but a bit concerned about tornadoes, which is what is pictured. I don't live near the coast, but I do live in tornado alley.

    This prediction means NOTHING. It's just data issued by another ineffectual gub'ment bureaucracy to justify their paychecks.
    About 6 or 8 years ago, they predicted an average season and we had more named storms than the Alphabet has letters. The following year NOAA missed just as bad the other direction.

    You should be far more worried about Greece, France, Italy etc. You can have more effect on the outcome and none on the weather.

    out of the storm surge area might have a few days o no electirity but won a Generator last MAY 30 kw want to fire that Baby up only house in area with lights (eat your Hearts out)

    I live in Florida...and that isn't a pic of a hurricane. But then, you probably knew that! If you've experienced a hurricane first-hand, you'd know what freaking beasts they are. And they creep along at 5 mph so they have lots of time to do lots of damage.

    Why worry?

    Either you're going to be hit, or you're not. If you're hit, hopefully you're prepared. But that isn't reason to worry. You really can't help what's going to happen. Worrying just adds to the problem.

    I live in the hurricane capitol of the E coast.I am ready.Generator is tuned up.Plenty of filled gas cans.Canned food.Boxed food.Metal shutters.Large tarps.Propane stove and propane.Cases of 1 gal water.Portable lights ,radios and batteries.Guns and plenty of ammo for the looters.Looking forward to a fun time!

    I live in Southwest florida, it gets scary when you hear" evacuate" . My first hurricane was Wilma in 2005, the build up of the hurricane is what got to me. I opened up the front door when the worst part was coming over our home it was a big adrenaline rush. The bad part is no gas stations opened, everything is closed and people running around like crazy.

    Seems like the past 20 years they been predicting above average .
    Now lets trot out the Bull about global warming and if everybody isn't living miserable and sending billions of dollars to the ultra rich and buying hookers for the UN then the whole planet is gonna die , the seas will rise and Polar bears will get sun tans.
