We SOMETIMES very rarely will get a hurricane in Oklahoma. Well not REALLY a hurricane, but a tropical storm/depression.

I live in Wyoming. Hurricanes aren't really a concern here.

Other than major snowstorms, and "IF" that caldera ever goes! ----- not much else happens (tornado's,major violent t-storms, etc) in Wyomingland, does it?
  • lucythe... Charles... 2012/08/11 02:19:37

Nope, not really. We get quite a bit of snow sometimes and with the way the wind blows pretty much all the time, it can be interesting, but other than that it's just the odd tornado or thunderstorm. And if the Yellowstone volcano blows, I'm sure I'll be too busy being dead to worry much about it. XD

Been through a few in my time, but never take one for granted. They can destroy and kill. The Key Westers like to party but they are a little off.

I'll take a F5 tornado, over either one of them! ;)

Not me a F5 tornado has awesome power. I'll stick with a Hurricane.

If you get hit by an F5, you won't be saying that, because you will be dead. An F5 can have winds 4 or 5 times as strong as a hurricane. An F5 can have winds as much as 500 miles an hour.
  • Charles... Willy 2012/08/11 05:39:33

Tru dat, but - at least an F5 tornaado wouldn't be as destructive - especially in terms of $$$ as either a hurricane or earthquake

Not man made global warming, you just have to take that on faith. Although you may be right, I will put my trust in the brilliant people who can't even tell me if it's going to RAIN tomorrow, and they can somehow predict the future. Yep sounds like preaching to me. How many Ice ages has this planet been through? In fact if you were cleaver and did your research you would find that just the opposite is true. The ice is on it's way.

Scientists have proven we have greatly contributed to climate change... it's no longer a matter of opinion.

O.K. just because you may have some people in the science community that may agree with you, doesn't mean the climate change idea is "no longer a matter of opinion" , Oh yes it is. The "Global Warming crowd" is just another off shoot of Greenpeace, I'm a charter member of that piss ant communist organization. When communism was declared nonfunctional in 1989 the communist in America had to have a place to try to bring down capitalism, ergo, "Global Warming". And the stupid idiots didn't even research the idea very well or they would have found out that the earth is actually cooling. Your plethora of information and unwillingness to try to learn more on the topic because "it's no longer a matter of opinion" speaks volumes.

I will not deny that there is global warming/ cooling however when it comes to human kinds contributions toward that end I'm doubtful. One volcanic eruption can do more ecological damage than all of mankinds eco-damage since the beginning of time. So what's the difference? Money! The Koyto Accord wanted the U.S. to foot the bill for the whole freaking world about "GLOBAL WARMING" that's where I get off this merry go round. Especially when India and China along with Russia are the worst polluters in the world.

I have to agree with you somewhat. I do think we've contributed to global warming, but the global warming activists have gone way too far with things... they're discrediting their cause.

I worked as an environmental scientist for 30 years, when we at the office first read the findings of the initial research we were in shock. We were in college in the 1970's when the global cooling theory came out, , but here was what appeared to be evidence to the contrary, global warming, much worse than global cooling. It wasn't until later the same year that Scientific American magazine came out with an expose of the initial research, that we learned that some of the figures had been "fudged" ie. placing thermometers close to incinerators, hot air exhaust from A.C. units, near discharge sites at one of the states nuclear energy plants, and the like. In the scientific community once your credibility is compromised, you couldn't get a job cleaning petri dishes at a local high school. However if you have benefactor with an agenda you can continue your research as long as you provide what the benefactor wants. You may even hear of some of their research but they will never publish the name or the researcher, you will read it as, "Scientific evidence may indicate..." or " A research facility in Ompalompaland recently found......" Those people lost all credibility.

It's not really global "warming", it's just weather patterns changing.

Yeah - u got that right! We were "SUPPOSE" 2 b having "INCREASED" severe weather by now, according to some global warming alarmists, back a decade or so ago. And according to NOAA official records ---- its been a relativly QUIET season for most major storms this season.

I live in Florida and have worked outside all my life, I'm a better predictor of weather than those folks on the TV. We live and die by weather patterns, as we are the lightening capitol of the world. You are correct my friend it's been quiet so far but September is usually the busy month. Global warming my butt. But if the earth cools to the point where the Gulf stream stops were sunk. Put it this way, we will be able to walk to Bermuda and the Cuban refugees won't be needing boats anymore.
