Most societies are divided into a party that wants change (the more liberal party) and one that is afraid of change (the conservatives). The liberal party is generally more intellectual and the conservative party is more anti-intellectual.

The conservative party is big on national defense and magnifies our perception of threat, whether of foreign aggressors, immigrants, terrorists, or invading ideologies like Communism. To a conservative, the world really is a frightening place.

Hmm...funny, I don't feel that way at all. But I do admit that liberals scare the hell out of me. How can so many people be that stupid? Hey, I'm all for improving the human condition but to steal from everyone working to give to those who don't and in most cases haven't for three or more generations is ludicrous.

And what's wrong with National defense? I seem recall that a lot of Dems in the Senate are just as desperate as the Repubs to avoid the automatic across the board cuts that happen in Jan, 50% going against the Pentagon (NPR). Communism sucks and has been proven unworkable many times. Terrorists are terrorists...what? Osama Bin Ladin was just frustrating? Nothing wrong with immigrants, it's the illegal ones that need addressing, not forgiving.

Jimbo, for the most part I've admired your dedication to your side of things. You do go to the trouble to justify your position however flawed it may be and yes, on occasion you do validate liberals. But of late you seem to be falling into the irrational fear coming from the left over losing obama. Why? I know you can't or won't admit to his failures while constantly transferring them to President Bush. I've also noticed you're falling into sock-puppet territory in constantly repeating yourself with little variation. You're better than that.

And there's the travesty! Back to the point which is the number of Obama t-shirts around the world and in the black community and, stated less offensively than the question was posed, I will confess as an Obama supporter that the mindless Obama worship is troubling but neither his fault nor his creation. Probably just the natural creation of a people who feel oppressed seeing someone who looks like them ascend to the top... In reality Obama has not a lot in common with these people. He is simply a gifted communicator that engenders affinity. Don't blame him for that. My attraction towards Obama is largely policy based and at this point I'd say my support for Obama is also fueled by the fear of a Romney who might actually capitulate to the regressive policies that the RWNJs (Right Wing Nut Jobs) support. (Ryan Plan, Voter ID Laws, legislated ultrasound rape laws, regressive taxation moves, gender inequality, militarism, and a whole bunch of other stuff.)
