Today, has been raining, and cool, nothing to do but sit and think about things, remembering posts from the past from other people.. And one topic in particular.
Was the United States formed under Christian beliefs and principles? Some say yes, others vehemently oppose this...
However, please even if you are Agnostic, or Atheist, Muslim, Progressive, Liberal or Conservative...
Take 1 hour, thats all, 1 hour.. Read over this web site, it is a collection of articles from before our Nations' beginning to creation.
If after you have read through these articles, and still believe that the USA was not founded on Christian principles, regardless if YOU believe in GOD or not.. I really believe there is no hope for our Nation

This Nation wouldn't be so successful and powereful if it weren't for Christian principles.View thread

I think you'll find these FAR more inciteful and in opposition to what you are saying:
John Adams in a letter to Thomas Jefferson:
"I almost shudder at the thought of alluding to the most fatal example of the abuses of grief which the history of mankind has preserved -- the Cross. Consider what calamities that engine of grief has produced!"
James Madison:
"What influence, in fact, have ecclesiastical establishments had on society? In some instances they have been seen to erect a spiritual tyranny on the ruins of the civil authority; on many instances they have been seen upholding the thrones of political tyranny; in no instance have they been the guardians of the liberties of the people. Rulers who wish to subvert the public liberty may have found an established clergy convenient auxiliaries. A just government, instituted to secure and perpetuate it, needs them not."
Benjamin Franklin:
"If we look back into history for the character of the present sects in Christianity, we shall find few that have not in their turns been persecutors, and complainers of persecution. The primitive Christians thought persecution extremely wrong in the Pagans, but practiced it ...

The primitive Christians thought persecution extremely wrong in the Pagans, but practiced it on one another. The first Protestants of the Church of England blamed persecution in the Romish church, but practiced it upon the Puritans. These found it wrong in the Bishops, but fell into the same practice themselves both here [England] and in New England."

2nd. I also know why they left England. (again you mention religion) I never said anything about a specific religion.
3rd. I have not been hateful or judgemental in anyway shape or form, so I hope that you were not including me in your last sentence
You are so right!
so true and great post! Way to stand up for what's right!
Chastise and correct?...YES
Abandon?...NEVER
It is hard to kick against the pricks. Barry is about to find out.
It was Christians that started the first college universities, pretty ironic how they dismiss Christianty in these same colleges today.
For those non-believers, I'd rather die believing in God even if I die and found out there is not God (but that won't happen, God does exist), than to not believe and die to discover there truly is God!
I agree with you Bev.
