There is a War on The War on Christmas?

Which Christmas? Yuletide, Winter Solstice was the original "Christmas" celebration, celebrating the season. This was followed by Christmas celebrating the birth of Jesus. That one ended for the most part 70 years ago or so. Then we had the Charles Dickens Christmas, as a time for charity, joy, compassion, etc. That has also ended for the most part.
So, we are left with the Marketing Christmas, a time for people to overspend, buying crap that they don't need and probably can't afford, trying to buy love from their children or other significant people in their lives. A time to overly consume, wreck the planet with crap that will be discarded soon enough.

Merry Christmas.

There is a section of people who simply can not stand to co-exist with others who think differently and therefore any change to their "norm" is perceived as a military strike against their way of life. It's perceived, not reality. This country is FILLED with all different kinds of people and therefore saying Merry christmas without being RESPECTFUL of other cultures and religions is asinine

Respect is earned.

I agree, respect is a two way street so Christians need to stop getting so upset when changes are made to better fit ALL citizens in this country. Respect to others, and majority of others will give it back.

Christianity itself has not earned any respect. It claims there is a god and offers no proof.

Not being rude but it doesn't matter whether they have proof or not. Either you believe or dont, it doesn't require respect on their side. What they should respect is people's desire to see a variety of seasonal celebrations being honored during this time. That's what I was talking about.

...and finally, from everyone's favorite, Sean Hannity declares...the War on women (conservative women that is).

One would almost think they're trying to frighten their audience....

Not on my Christmas there isn't, I'm celebrating it, and I don't care who is trying to stop it, and who doesn't like it. And then on Christmas Day, I am making a Birthday cake for Jesus as I always do with my family, and we are going to wish him a wonderful birthday. And I know millions, and millions of others will be too!

There is NO war on Christmas. If we believe in Christ, no one can take Christmas out of your heart or wants to take it out of YOUR home. My God is big enough to take up for himself and NEVER told us to lie on His behalf. What kind of so-called Christian does that? Shake the dust from your shoes and stop LYING (c)hristians!

Exactly. Religious Freedom has changed these days and it only protects non-believers. This country is becoming increasingly intolerant to the religious.

I hate the term war... It has been watered down to the point that it is an everyday household word. Even t.v shows do this. Storage Wars, Junk Yard Wars, Bridal Wars, whatever. People just don't understand the power of that word.


War is greater than anything anyone can imagine. Until you witness the horrors of war yourself, then you will realize how watered down this word is.

I thought christmas was a time of honoring the tradition of gift giving. Why would anyone want to attack gift giving!?

Naw, many of the Atheist believe that Christmas being celebrated as a National Wide Holiday is un-Constitutional. I remember something about an Atheist Banner was refused, by our government, to be put up. But a Nativity Scenery was allowed to be put up on Government property. Atheist were angry about it. I am an Atheist and I would be bothered by the Nativity Scene on Government Property, but I would just shrug it off and move on.
