The White House illegally deleted over 10 million e-mails. Is the Bush administration hiding something?

SAM 2007/12/06 23:54:35
Yes. Each email size is 10k average, that estimates 100 gigs of of E-mail which anyone can back up on a hard drive and I am pretty sure they have. Someone is trying to hide something here!
Who cares? 95% of those emails were spam.
No. But seriously, the whole Bush administration is embarrassing!

A government watchdog group now says more than 10 million White House emails are missing. Citizens for the Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) described this massive hole in White House email records last April. At that time they thought the number was 5 million - Now they say it is more than 10 million emails. In one of the great understatements of this here Christmas season, the group says that this revised estimate - quote - highlights that this is a very serious and systematic problem at the White House - unquote. Both CREW and another private group called the National Security archive are suing the Bush administration to try to get information about all these missing emails. The White House email problems first came to light during special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald’s investigation into the leak of CIA officer Valerie Plame’s identity.

It’s worth noting what a critical time period these missing emails represent. Why it’s from March of 2003 to October 2005. That would include the start of the Iraq War right up through the aftermath of Katrina. As the director of one of these groups put it: It doesn’t get more historically valuable than that. Given the way the White House handled both the war and Katrina, it’s also quite convenient that suddenly this mountain of stuff is missing. By the way it’s against the law that these emails be destroyed or lost. They are supposed to be saved. The Presidential Records Act of 1978 mandates White House communications be preserved. Another law broken — Another example of nobody doing a damn thing about it.

Not to mention (but you know I will) that over 4 years of Rove’s emails were also illegally deleted from when the White House was illegally using RNC email servers to circumvent the Presidential Records Act. Whatever did become of Sen Leahy’s “Those e-mails are there, they just don’t want to produce them. We’ll subpoena them if necessary“? Is Cafferty right? Is there really nobody doing a damn thing about this anymore except for CREW and GWU’s National Security Archive?

Bush is a war criminal and nothing more need be said. He attacked a Nation without provocation and it can be proven his family owned oil rights in the Nation and into Kuwait. G. W. Bush’s father vowed to get even with Saddam Hussein for setting fire to the Bush oil wells during Desert Storm. The enemy of the United States was in Afghanistan and this was a well-known fact. Get even he did with the death of thousands of American lives, which seems to make no difference at all to G. W. Bush and his administration. It’s as though the man has no conscience at all. Myself and many others in the world believe Bush is a war criminal and should be accused and tried for this before the world courts.

Is this the act of a world leader?

There has been so much corruption and dishonesty in this administration, it almost makes me physically ill. The deceptions and manipulations have been devastating to this country and all of the people in it. Now, can you imagine McCain/Palin in office? Geez, Palin will be hiding things all over the place, like she does in Alaska. I don't think our country will make it, if that happens...

yet another Republican president and his minions concealing evidence. Unlike private citizens, a President's communications are public record. It's cool to classify them for security purposes for a while, but at some point, 30 years down the road, the Freedom of Information Act would have them declassified so that the entire historical record could be studied and lessons that could only be understood in retrospect could be learned. It's time to be authentic and accountable.

He's probably worried his legacy would be worse than it already is with this financial debacle at the culmination of his presidency. So sad.

Lies and secrecy and a power grab beyond anything imagined in a so-called democracy. The lies began at the very outset when Dubya campaigned on the mantra: "I'm a uniter, not a divider." That said it all, the insinuation, the implication. It was clear then what we were in for: accusing the opposition of what they themselves were doing. And getting away with it because the US population hasn't been taught much in the way of critical thinking for decades.

I think it's so sadly ironic that Americans were in an outrage over Clinton's escapades even tho, with regards to security, he was fairly forthcoming during his "inquisition". Americans screamed "impeach" the liar. His impeachable actions had very little to do with the business of this country. Clinton managed to accomplish alot of good while getting his thing sucked and being probed ever other way by Kenneth Star.

The same Americans sure are quiet now. We have a president committing serious crimes and where are all of those people that want justice? Where is Bush's Kenneth Star? Why are these same people not demanding impeachment for his lies (lies that people have been dying for)? Why are so many of them vehemently supporting the Bush doctrine despite all the facts against it? Did they put something in the water? Has everyone gone blind?

"Email-gate" is only the tip of the iceberg. If we knew the full extent of this administration's incredible crimes, we would be charging them with treason.
