There was never a need to go to war, there was a need to break up Al Queda and bring Bin Laden to justice. We've done both but instead of doing them for their own sake we've turned our fight into a bloodbath in Iraq and Afghanistan.
We went to war because we had a coward in the White House whose acute fear made him over-react to 9/11. What was required was to nail the bad guys, but what we did was bring war to millions of people who had nothing to do with the crime that caused it.
