Huzzah! Let the people rejoice! After tallying up the year's most popular search terms, Yahoo! divulged that the top spot -- meaning the most searched term of 2012 -- was the year's presidential election. Of course, the top 10 list also has its fair share of entertainment-oriented searches. After the election ( #1) and the iPhone 5 (#2), Kim Kardashian, Kate Upton and Kate Middleton took the 3rd, 4th and 5th search spots, in that order.
Other top search terms include Whitney Houston (#6), the Olympics (#7), Political Polls (#8), Lindsay Lohan (#9) and Jennifer Lopez (#10.) It looks like America likes a side of entertainment and gossip along with its main course of politics and news, which leads us to one question. What do you care about more: politics or entertainment?

NEWS.YAHOO.COM reports:
In the dozen years Yahoo! has ranked its annual Top 10 searches, only two other news events captured the top spot: the BP oil spill in 2010, and Michael Jackson's death in 2009. This year the half-billion people who visit Yahoo! every month typed the word "elections" more than any other.

jj.hantsch 2012/12/13 14:39:46Politics & News+8I go hear both candidates for POTUS speak twice before deciding. Media sound bytes or so deceptive. If more people actually listened and thought about Obama, no one would have voted for him. Worst President ever.

Because politics, 99.5% of the time, is BS.
Favorite is tech & gaming news, because stuff is fun & tech is epic.

Here's one I rely on. With NONE of the pro-Obama propaganda that permeates US news reporting.
For example, many stupid people voted this fall that had no idea what was at stake in the election. In a few months they will wonder why their taxes have gone up, why food is more expensive, why gas costs more, why they have less freedoms, yet it will never cross their minds that it is happening because they reelected the Marxist to the presidency.
You can't fix stupid.
Obama: Romney is wrong, as always.
Romney: They're not supposed to know that Barack!! Shush!!
Shame that the election wasn't about issues.
It was about who can connect with the regular people more, but also A LOT about issues!
But you are right. Skillful people can turn ad hominen attacks into connecting with the regular people. Hitler successfully did it and was democratically elected.
Entertainment and gossip is merely something people take "less seriously", well, at least we can hope...
