Huzzah! Let the people rejoice! After tallying up the year's most popular search terms, Yahoo! divulged that the top spot -- meaning the most searched term of 2012 -- was the year's presidential election. Of course, the top 10 list also has its fair share of entertainment-oriented searches. After the election ( #1) and the iPhone 5 (#2), Kim Kardashian, Kate Upton and Kate Middleton took the 3rd, 4th and 5th search spots, in that order.

Other top search terms include Whitney Houston (#6), the Olympics (#7), Political Polls (#8), Lindsay Lohan (#9) and Jennifer Lopez (#10.) It looks like America likes a side of entertainment and gossip along with its main course of politics and news, which leads us to one question. What do you care about more: politics or entertainment?

NEWS.YAHOO.COM reports:
In the dozen years Yahoo! has ranked its annual Top 10 searches, only two other news events captured the top spot: the BP oil spill in 2010, and Michael Jackson's death in 2009. This year the half-billion people who visit Yahoo! every month typed the word "elections" more than any other.

I go hear both candidates for POTUS speak twice before deciding. Media sound bytes or so deceptive. If more people actually listened and thought about Obama, no one would have voted for him. Worst President ever.

I love entertainment, but since politicians can more directly influence my life, I am more concerned with keeping an eye on those guys.

I deeply care about politics and primarily how our government spends our money. Non of the Liberals seem to be concerned about how much waste and poor spending. Why is it they don't seem to be concerned? Many pay their taxes and should be. I can understand those who don't pay who aren't concerned but not those who do pay taxes. It is so clear that Government cannot bridge the gap of deficit cost with tax increases and that at some time we will be forced to have painful cut back in services. Do we have to go Greece to get their attention?

Let me get this straight: news UNRELATED TO POLITICS.

Because politics, 99.5% of the time, is BS.

Favorite is tech & gaming news, because stuff is fun & tech is epic.

Unfortunately, if an intelligent American wants FACTUAL and ACCURATE reporting regarding any political or real-time news, they MUST rely on foreign news associations/websites/sources to obtain said information.

Here's one I rely on. With NONE of the pro-Obama propaganda that permeates US news reporting.

Many don't realize that what happens politically dictates what goes on in their daily lives. They may not be smart enough to put 2 and 2 together, but it affects them.

For example, many stupid people voted this fall that had no idea what was at stake in the election. In a few months they will wonder why their taxes have gone up, why food is more expensive, why gas costs more, why they have less freedoms, yet it will never cross their minds that it is happening because they reelected the Marxist to the presidency.

    You can't fix stupid.

I stick to current events for the most part. I find too much of today's entertainment to be insipid to the point of depressing. The occasional 'fun and humor' or 'entertainment' is usually the result of the author neglecting to switch the category from the default position before posting.

Yeah, that is an interesting picture. Romney is making a point about something while Obama, who has nothing on his record or plans, simply makes ad hominen personal attacks.

Shame that the election wasn't about issues.

I am not sure what Obama ran on this time except ending the tax for the rich. Of course he and the Democratic controlled Congress were the ones who extended the tax cuts for the rich in 2010. I guess that he needs Republicans to end them.

But you are right. Skillful people can turn ad hominen attacks into connecting with the regular people. Hitler successfully did it and was democratically elected.

Entertainment and the entertainment mentality leading people to make bad choices in voting, is much of our problem as a nation today. So at what point do most separate one from the other. I happen to attempt to learn more truth of what is going on, before deciding who to vote for and why. I do not listen to sound bites as any kind of truth, EVER!

In a way, their is no difference, Fox says "people are saying" and anyone with a third of a brain can tell that both the mass media and politicians are bold faced liars and spread propaganda.

Entertainment and gossip is merely something people take "less seriously", well, at least we can hope...

Polotics affect the way we live and precieve each other today and in the future. Taking so much interest in someone elses personal behavior or looking to others actions to guide you on what is cool is so not cool.

Gossip is politics for the ignorant and/or weak-minded. I prefer to discuss and learn about issues that truly matter to the world, not dwell on what inane, shallow nonsense some obscure D-list celebrity is fouling up the internet with.

Actually, if "neither" or "none of the above" had been one of the choices, I would have clicked on one of those. I hate politics. I think politics is boring. I do not watch the news because it is too doggone depressing. Entertainment? What entertainment? Everything seems to SUCK nowadays. And there is more gossiping, trash talking, and B.S.ing, then there are job opportunities.
