There you have it. Conservatives are not neccessarily Republicans, Independents not neccessarily either Republican or Conservative.

We need a whole new definition of all those labels--or maybe a new set of labels!

The GOP isn't stupid. They are just loaded with power hungry 'moderates' [aka liberals] like McCain.

The only strategy I see in picking moderate candidates is to make a tough decision for some conservative voters, since it really doesn't matter if there is D or an R after the name. I think they might be surprised by what might actually happen if they put up conservative candidates, even in liberal districts.

Well, hopefully we will find out.

If only we had a true independent here. Locally, a guy called himself an independent, but used the ol' code words, and got endorsements from the local Dems, so I hesitated. Then there were the negative ads.....Got to the polls and saw the sample ballot from the Dems---there he was listed as a sample "choice" blackened in. Yeah, areal independent. The 30 year in the Corps also gave him some gravitas, but he was just the same ol' deal hopin' fer change (the change in my pocket.).

Voters now trust Republicans more on every issue.

This is solid proof that the GOP needs to stop trying to run moderates, and get back to the core of solid fiscal conservatism.

Unfortunately, I think it's been more than 40 years since we've had any Republican's that were solid fiscal conservatives... not to say they don't exist (because they do)... they just aren't in large numbers that would make a difference.

I hope this is a learning moment for the entire republican party.
