I agree that we will never stop prostitution but I disagree in the "if we can not beat them than join them" theory.

I am not sure that legalizing it would change much. The pimps or houses would get rich legally while the protitutes would get used and abused as always. It will always be with us though. It is a human trait or vice that will never change.

I am all for legalizing prostitution as a matter of human rights, but not for the purpose of either taxiing it or providing more bureaucratic parasites with work pretending they are watching out for the General Welfare when all of history says they never do that.

when you consider that this is one of the oldest professions, it has been illegal forever, why don't all countries legalize prostitution? they could do like they do in Amsterdam, certain parts of Thailand & have proper certification to have a clean bill of health, the governments would gain on revenue from income taxes, they could employ medics purely to test prostitutes for STDs, you could eliminate prostitutes from claiming off the state whilst working the streets for a living, prostitutes provide a service like it or not, without them, there would probably be more rapes & sexually orientated crimes, they stop desperate sex starved people from committing sex crimes, legalize prostitution

There is got to be some limits on government's power

First, it's legalizing prostitution, then legalizing drugs (many European countries have adopted both of these policies.) I don't believe in legalized prostitution. Call me old fashioned, I don't care, I do not believe it should be legalized. I'd rather see marijuana legalized and bring in tax revenues from that. At least it has medicinal purposes. Trust me, I know from personal experience. I have spent a great deal of more than the last decade trying to gain weight, which is impossible to do with no appetite. I wish I had that option. Even my doctor regretted the fact he couldn't prescribe it after all other options failed. Oh well, I finally have gained 10 pounds, but it shouldn't have taken 12 years. Being a mother and grandmother, I couldn't be a hypocrite and just go out and buy it. I take those responsibilities too seriously.

The ONLY reason for not legalizing the oldest profession is because there would need to be a health system in place that would do monthly STD checks and licensing. Besides, if they were legal, the Congressmen and Senators would have potential leaks that could be validated by forcing them to court, which would be the very last thing any of them want to happen.

It seems all you ideas end with Regulate and tax it, are you sure you are not an Obama advisor.
