The Public Trial of Justice Roberts - will the veiled threats work?

Novelist John Grisham could hardly spin a more provocative fiction: The president and his surrogates mount an aggressive campaign to intimidate the chief justice of the United States, implying ruin and ridicule should he fail to vote in a pivotal case according to the ruling political party’s wishes.

If only it were fiction.

The justice is, of course, John Roberts and the case involves the Affordable Care Act (ACA), a.k.a. Obamacare, which would be affordable only if the Supreme Court upholds the individual mandate requiring all Americans to buy health insurance.

The left’s narrative goes as follows: If the justices side with the Obama administration, they will be viewed as brilliant and nonpartisan. If the reverse occurs, why then, the justices are partisan, judicial activists who have delegitimized the court.

Publicly chastising the court — and now taunting Roberts specifically — seems to have two purposes. One is to get under Roberts’s skin in the hopes that he’ll rule the “correct,” if not necessarily “legally correct,” way. Two is to lay the groundwork for declaring the court illegitimate if all or part of Obamacare is overturned.

Either way, it’s politics at its filthiest and is beneath the dignity of the court — and of the White House. Unfortunately for Roberts, it’s up to the chief justice to hold the bar high.

The Public Trial of Justice Roberts will the veiled threats work Obama
Justice Roberts = gravitas &nbsp... President Obama = sly
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The progressives had a ball when they played constantly with their new word, gravitas, when they were taunting President Bush. He had so little, according to MSM. Has anyone heard the word used as regards our esteemed thug in the White House now. Well, I haven't, so let me be the first to say that gravitas is an unknown quantity to Obama.
He, and none in his gang, have what it takes to have gravitas - and that is CLASS. And because he doesn't, we dare not trust him. Many of us never have, and for good reason. His actions do not reflect his words.
    Roberts will go down in history as a fool if the court does NOT declare the individual mandate unConstitutional.
    If 0bozocare were to survive, our entire economy will purposely collapse as designed, creating the 'emergency' the progs need to install a complete govt. run, European, Socialist nanny-state system they have been after all along.
    No. And what most people do not know is, the Court has already voted - they are now in the process of writing their opinions. Of course you can bet Obama-appointed Kagen and Sotomayor illegally leaked the vote to the prez - which is why they are grandstanding and threatening. It won't work. Remember when the Court made the Executive Branch issue a 2 page single space written acknowlegment/apology? PWN! If the Court is declared illegitimate by the Executive Branch, then only the person holding the highest Executive Office will actually be illegitimate. All 3 branches get their legitimacy from the Constitution, and if they do not respect, honor, and follow it, they make themselves invalid and irrelevant. The Court is doing its job. The Exec Branch is just being a mafia. What do you expect from Chicago?
    Have an observation when politicians interfere with the courts it is a recipe for tyranny.
    Have the example of Zimbabwe right next door how Mr. Mugabe went about this.
    Be afraid very afraid of this trend.
    If the Supreme Court does not rule the individual mandate unconstitutional and throw out the entire ObamaCare monstrosity, then there is very little function left in the future for the Supreme Court. It will almost never be the case that the Supreme Court will be able to make a principled argument to keep the government from doing anything it wants to do to the individual. If the Supreme Court does not enforce any limits to the power of government, then is becomes mostly superfluous. Obama can get away with treating the Supreme Court with no respect precisely because the Court has already given away so much of its power to establish limits. I think there are five Justices who understand this. If they cannot take a principled stand on this most unpopular law with its most egregious claim that no individual owns his own mind and body because the collective owns it instead, then the fight for human freedom has been completely lost.
    The most insidious piece of Obamacare is that it overthrows the Constitution .
    A Panel appointed by the Potus has supreme control over medical care and cannot be challenged by the courts .
    WHHHAAATTTT?
    Obamacare reduces government to two ( one ? ) branch .
    The supreme court has no choice . Either overturn Obamacare or Abandon the Constitution . ( allowing for the fact that the one crazy old bat has already publicly stated that very Idea ) A couple others have also expressed disdain for the constitution .
    EDIT for reference :
    This panel of 15 unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats has been tasked with cutting Medicare and given the power to ration care for our seniors. The Board’s decisions cannot be challenged in courts, and its members are accountable to no one – not to Congress, not to our seniors, and not to the American people.
    I want to believe Judge Roberts is a man of integrity, and to see a man of integrity be beaten down by a thug in a nice suit would be one of the sorriest sights I can imagine. We must trust that Roberts will do his position proud. Just as we can trust that regardless of the situation, Obama will behave badly. Such a sad state of affairs. I will never, EVER, trust the Democrat Party. While Republicans can be and sometimes are terrible, no one comes close to the evil the Democrats have foisted off onto America.
    The Democrat Party was taken over by the Socialists in the mid 40's just as Norman Thomas spoke of.
    The remaining so-called 'Blue-Dogs' are the surviving remnants of what used to be.
    As bad as Wilson was with giving us the Federal Reserve and IRS, FDR preyed on people's despair during the Depression and duped the masses into a false sense of security and amnesia about WHY our founders committed treason against the most powerful Navy & Army on the planet.
    They weren't horsing around.
    Evil will always prevail when good men do nothing. If enough people could simply accept the fact that we no longer live under the form of government we are told we live under, nothing of any substance will get done as long as evil doesn't want it done. I feel I owe absolutely NO loyalty to THIS government. I owe absolute loyalty to my self and to my fellow man, but not to an evil government. I hope one day soon most Americans will feel the same way.
    Fear not..... we're headed back that way. 0bozo was an alarm clock for many who have been in a self inflicted stupor for far too long.
    98 million apathetic, eligible voters chose to not exercise that right in Nov. 2008. That will NOT be the case in 5-1/2 months.
    Pat Leahy (Leaky Leahy) has made veiled threats to Roberts as well. The entire Democrat Party has become a souring bog of rotting minds and souls.
