The Public Cares If a Candidate Cheats [INFOGRAPHIC]

SodaHead Infographics 2011/12/08 23:00:00
Last week, we asked SodaHeads what they thought about candidates who cheat on their spouses. Herman Cain's cheating accusations didn't seem to have much of an impact on his campaign in the polls, but it quickly spiraled out of control when the public refused to let it go. Now, it's cost him his candidacy.

Earlier this year, [former] Rep. Anthony Weiner resigned from his position over a cheating scandal, and before the jokes had a chance to go limp, news of Arnold Schwarzenegger's love child got out. It's not an uncommon occurrence, and it's important that voters are able to assess what this means for their country, and how -- if at all -- it will affect their vote.

If a Democrat cheats and becomes president, he tells every little school child that oral sex is okay and it's not really sex. He redefines sex and starts the largest downhill movement in sexual behavior, just to make what he did seem okay. If a Republican tells a woman she's pretty, he has committed one of the most heinous crimes against humanity possible. He is shamed publicly on all of the major news networks and is forced to abandon his bid for office.

Well Mitt Romney doesn't cheat on his wife of about 45 years. His five upstanding young men; never any drug use, or criminal record; they are all whoelsome living. Larry King could not get over that fact, but look, our voters have a 'problem' with his religion. They would rather have a cheater! Go figure. what does that say about MOST people? Hypocrites.

Putting aside the moral issue, politicians who cheat on their spouses are liars with bad character who would not hesitate to cheat and lie to the American people.

You see here's the problem, you think that anyone else should care in the slightest how YOU think they should live. Not everyone is so remarkably stupid as to have missed the point that freedom of conscience comes from nobody being allowed determine morality for anyone else. Conservative nitwits LOVE to go on and on about values and morals and then start wars at the drop of a hat, cut money for the poor, hate on minorities, oppress gays, pollute like mad, and take a bottle of whiteout to the 1st amendment. I value a woman's right to religious autonomy no matter what someone else's imaginary friend in the sky says. I value equality for all people regardless of whether their sexual orientation is offensive to someone else's favorite book of fairy tales. I value the freedom of conscience that the founders decided was so central to american liberty that the very 1st amendment they wrote in the Bill of Rights protects it. I value my fellow human being enough that I think a social safety net for which I have been priviledged enough to never have a need is important and worthy of my tax dollars. I am the MOST LOYAL HUSBAND EVER. (I am crazy about my super awesome wife)

Your assumptions about me are wrong as every turn. You comprehension fail regarding why we keep morality the hell out of government is not only monumentally low IQ, it is also a threat to the crux of liberty in our society. You are VERY short sighted.

I answered "no" (I don't care) to this, but qualified the statement:

A candidate cheating on his or her partner is a personal matter, but when their behavior SURROUNDING their infidelity is illegal or unethical, then I care.

I don't care about Arnold's love child, but I do care about John Edwards because Edwards used campaign funds illegally to conceal his mistress and child from the public (and his wife).

I don't care about Clinton's blowjob from Lewinsky, because by all accounts she was enamored with him and he was not using her UNPAID internship as leverage. I DO care about Herman Cain using his position of power to trade desperate women employment for sexual favors.

Thats going to be Newts problem, bringing up what happened forty years ago and not letting it go. The Media has found a way to destroy any conservative candidate with a past. So ask yourself, which is more important the best candidate or a candidate that meets the standards of todays Media. Obama met the standard, in fact he exceeded the standard. Its like Bachmans getting federal funds, keep bringing it up whittle away the support and guess what nother four for Obama. In fact if Newt does well in the first primary you know that the only thing that will be discussed in the newpapers and tv are his three divorces and cheating I suppose that is what brought on the divorces. So now decide, which do you prefer? A pres that can give his buddies billions of dollars, create new laws using regulations and executive orders, or someone that might bother to adhere to the constitution. Decide which is more important but dont wait too long. Time is runnig out. There is no perfect conservative candidate ask any liberal

"that's because cheating candidates are typically male".

Soda Head, do me a huge favor and stop falling into political fallacies. This is offensive and wrong at best. There is a large trend of women cheating as well. Back your words up with facts next time.

Actually, it doesn't bother me if he cheats, however, the Media is the ones to watch out for. They don't know when to stop and move on from it........

The president is not some accountant. We have to trust him because we are putting him in the most powerful seat in the world (well, not as powerful as the CEO of Goldman Sachs). If his/her spouse can't trust him/her, how can we trust him/her?
