"SafeLink Wireless is a government supported program that provides a free cell phone and airtime each month for income-eligible customers."
I didn't believe it, so I called the contact telephone number on the SafeLink site. I did not get a person, however sure enough if you go through the auto assistant like I did. If I qualify in this area's Zip Code i can get a free cell phone 68 free minutes and guaranteed no bills "ever."
This is like experiencing having been the victim of a "pick pocket bump" I did not feel it but Obama stuck his hand in my pocket, went in my wallet and took money out of it to pay for someone else cell phone. Amazing how Socialism works.

What next from this administration? Who is going to pay for this, and how much will it cost? Are you ready to pay for this, like you did the ‘cash for clunkers’ tax dollar giveaway?

To qualify for Lifeline Support, Families or individuals have to be either enrolled in a State social service program or qualify under the U.S. Federal Poverty Guidelines. Eligibility varies by state.
In April 2008, the FCC approved TracFone as an Eligible Telecommunications Carrier (ETC) to provide Lifeline Service in 11 states. Subsequently, TracFone has been approved in an additional 9 states and is currently providing service in 19 states. Today, there are over 1,700 ETC’s providing Lifeline service throughout the United States.
