The List: Obamacare Waivers:

Allbiz - PWCM - JLA 2013/09/29 16:40:42
The current list is up to 1200 with a total number of waived employees over 4 million. Now if Obamacare is such a great thing why are hundreds, and soon to be likely thousands of companies going through the process of getting a waiver to get out of it? Why would the administration grant a waiver if they truly thought this was in the best interest of American Workers? The list of companies waived from participating in Obama care ranges from "24 Hour Fitness" to "AETNA" to "SEIU". Some have 100,000 employees. Some have just four but none of them want anything to do with this Disaster of a Law. The List:

Obamacare is the biggest Joke ever played on the American People... Think...if it is so good why are there exemptions? Give me a break! Bark...howling too..

Those are all benefit cap exemptions from three years ago.

They all expire before Obamacare kicks in next year.

It's part of how the ACA was phased in. There are no exemptions to the full system, once it takes effect in 2014.

Barack Obama, WH administration employees and 535 members of Congress and their staffs have been exempted.

    Also false.

All those people get insurance through their employer (the government in this case.) By this logic, most Americans are also "exempt", as most people have coverage through their jobs.

The only people who need to buy insurance from health exchanges are people without employer coverage.

But in this case, the employer is affected by ACA policies. The government follows these same policies for government employees. No "exemption".

You're the one spreading false info.

No American is exempt from having health insurance if they live and work in America. It is the law, as of today.

Obama recently issued a special rule for Congress and congressional staff to get a special subsidy to purchase health insurance on the Obamacare Exchange unavailable to every other American at similar income levels. That's an exemption, plain and simple.

    Mr-Video
    Here's the misunderstanding.

Congresspeople have jobs - like most Americans, they get health insurance through their jobs.

When the ACA was being passed, somebody thought it was fitting that congress would have to get insurance through the exchanges. So this was added to the law.

But the exchanges are supposed to be for people who don't get insurance through their jobs.

This is why congress' insurance budget is being used to buy insurance from the exchange.

This is no different from anyone else who gets insurance paid for by their jobs. Except congress gets to experience what shopping on the exchange is like.

An "exemption", if true, would mean that congress or the President could forgo having insurance. This is NOT the case.

    Wrong again.

If Congress added it to the law when ACA was being passed, Obama would not have had to make a later exception. What was added was that congress could get insurance through the multitudes of FEHB.

Now, these employees can get the low income subsidies, even though they are making upwards of $100K or more, so they can take advantage of the low premiums.

No, that's just wrong and ignorant. There's no other way to put it.

Congress does not get "low income subsidies". Give me a break. They get their share of congress' health insurance budget to buy insurance from the exchange.

Putting that in there was a Republican idea, BTW.

CNN Fact Check below. No exemptions for Congress:

What the Obama administration has done is ruled that the congressional workers will continue to receive the employer contribution to help them buy their insurance on the exchange.

No other employees who are getting employer funded insurance are allowed to receive an government subsidy as well.

They are receiving a government exemption. Plain and simple.

Nice try using the left wing CNN propaganda arm.

Not true. Other employers have made a similar decision - drop employer health coverage and directly give employees the money to shop the exchanges instead.

You didn't read the CNN Fact Check I provided, did you?

PS: do you know what the word "exemption" means? What are members of congress supposed to be "exempt" from if they have to carry the same insurance the rest of us do?

This may trigger a bit of realization, but won't appear on any ballot.

Voting is not about much anymore, but it's all WE are "allowed".
