Which GOP plan are you talking about? There are several plans put forth by various GOP politicians. Would you perhaps mean the one that passed the House? or a newer proposal?

Without war, no need to maintain a military at the same level, we might even fall behind someone else having the best military in the world (although doubtful) so we need war to justify the military-industrial complex. All them seniors and disabled folk will just have to manage on their own, or lay down and die will be the case for many.
We need a strong military. Our social programs available to our growing population of seniors and persons unable to work because of disability are also needed to be a caring society. Military spending can definitely stand some scrutinizing, as well as individuals that may abuse our social assistance programs. The answer is not to favor one over the other. There will have to be compromise, there needs to be cuts done responsibly. How that will look is the hard question.

"This budget funds defense at levels that keep America safe by providing $554
billion for the next fiscal year" http://budget.house.gov/Uploa...
This is not an increase in defense spending since 2012 Defense budget is $707.5 billion
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
Social programs? There are actually hundreds of these, many duplicative. "This budget saves Medicare by fixing flaws in its structure so it will be there for future generations. By putting these solutions in place now, this budget ensures that changes will not affect those in
and near retirement in any way. For younger workers, when they become eligible, Medicare will provide a premium-support payment and a list of guaranteed coverage options-including
a traditional fee-for-service option–from which recipients can choose a plan that best suits their needs. Program growth would be determined by a competitive bidding process–with
choice and competition forcing providers to reduce costs and improve quality for seniors."
    http://budget.house.gov/Uploa...

So in these respects it does seem that SOMEONE has not actually read the 2013 Ryan plan.

Money spent on defense means employment for starters. We are lacking in real jobs that produce taxes and complete a employment cycle. Also we cannot let our guard down now. With the Mideast situation it would be detremenatl to everyone. Too many factors that created this mess.

Greed, thirst for oil, religion, damn right there are many factors to the Middle East, but I can't agree with you if you think we should go in with guns blazing. Our traditional allies with NATO and maintain previous treaties are important, but increasing military spending to start another war will not end well. We need to concentrate on our homeland and citizens. If you want to cut social programs, it can be done responsibly, so can military spending cuts.

I didn't say "Guns ablazin". I say don't gut the military to a point where if we need it keep it viable. Obie is cutting too much. Including the last cut where he let the veterans out to dry. As far as the social programs. Thumbs up. If we really dig into the assinine give aways. We would save more than imagined.

As a US Navy veteran I support a strong military. Our military should be so strong that it serves as a deterrent to war. We shouldn't reduce our military, but instead expand it.

We are spending billions upon billions of dollars on our judicial system, mostly to incarcerate non-violent unemployed drug users, high school drop outs, the homeless and the hopeless. We are supporting privatized prisons that profits from society ills. Corporate prisons that turns a profit for it's stiockholders and is dependent on young urban men and women to keep them in business.

We can reduce the revolving door of incarcerations by offering these young people a better path. No, they won't all take it, but many will, and that would be to the betterment of society.

Well, "dud" er I mean "bob" After you America hating, anti-military, socialist have stripped the military to the bone pretty much leaving the US that's us in a weakened state of preparedness while our enemies are on the move with massive military build ups. Unless those such as yourself the mindless liberal drones that only know what to think when programmed to think it. Gearing up the military as a deterrence would be a good idea. Even a better idea if it's needed. ya' think "bob"? sorry I forgot you're programmed what to think not how to think............

Why is it that when it comes to the military and national defense you regressives (libs) suddenly become so frugal? When it came to adjectives to describe the leftist libs I left out anti-constitution. This response ------ The GOP Chicken Hawks Budget is not aimed less at tackling $1 trillion-plus government deficits"----- You ashamed to say how much spending your boy did? A trillion plus....... Well, yeah! His one term and it ain't even over yet and we're gonna be left with what equals the gross domestic product (GDP) My point being is national defense spending is authorized by the constitution. All this socialist spending is not. When FDR did all his spending it was wrong. But at least with FDR we got something out of it. With obummer we ain't getting squat. All we're getting is the bill....

I am sorry but it is not the GOP that has made the unemployed out of work for over 3 years.
Obama promised HOPE AND CHANGE, I am sorry but I still hope I have change enough for a damn cup of coffee.
I have been trying for 3 years now to save up for another car and with the costs of things going up and up and up it is impossible for me to do so.
People blamed Bush for the way things are, they have blamed the failing economy on the GOP not once thinking that it is BOTH PARTIES.
I am tired of the race card popping up when it is convineient for them....Just today I was sitting out on my front porch with my wife and not bothering anyone when this little black girl ACTUALLY CAME IN MY YARD CALLING ME A WHITE MOTHER $$$$$$ trying to push all my buttons when my dog came from around the corner barking in protection of us...she kicked him AND SHE WAS ON MY PROPERTY....we called the police and right away they ran like the cowards they are....when the police came we showed them video of what happened.....they knew who the girls were and went there got them brought them to us for identification AND THEY USED THE CLASSIC "I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING HE JUST DON'T LIKE BLACK PEOPLE. When the police showed the video to them the said the video was doctored......................
Obama introduced the race card and he gets stronger when it is used.

The GOP is supporting the redistribution of wealth from the poor and middle class up to the wealthy elite, and one of the channels for that is the military-industrial complex.

So, you see, it's really the Republicans who are socialist/communists.

The GOP has not proposed a social service cut. It is the liberals and the media whom keep saying they are. What part of stop going on vacation on the US dime is cutting social services.

How about Nancy Polesi needing a private US tax payer jet to fly back and forth to DC and California. All of our representative are required to fly commercially by law. Yet as the speaker of the house Nancy flew her daughter from California on her personal speaker of the house jet to have a dental appointment. Now you may say how did that cost the American tax payer more money if she flew with her mother. The problem was Nancy flew in the morning, sent the plane back to Cali to pick up her daughter, get her to DC and to the dentist and back to Cali without Nancy.

ok, lets be realistic here. That on instance that you went into great detail probably cost the US government between 20-40 thousand dollars (thats 20,000), thats .0000007% of the 2.7 trillion dollar budget in 2006 (thats 2,700,000,000,000). The GOP wishes to add somewhere between $110-300 BILLION dollars to the budget in military spending. Do the math.

The round trip flight for her daughter cost the US tax payer $93,280 dollars. Now that is not including Pelosi flight between California and DC four time a week. By the way that is just the cost in fuel, the crew per day was $5000, the maintenance of her 737 per month was $300,000. Now that is just the ex speaker of the house who was in office for just shy of two years. Michelle Obama and her personal vacation separate from Barrack have already totaled in the 400 million dollar range.

Now explain why does both children hold the title of Teen and Tween Ambassadors with a life time pay of $45,000. Chelsa Clinton was the first official and paid Teen Ambassador still receiving her $35,000 per year. Now before you go and say how about the Bush Twin, neither held nor receive a federal retirement.

A world economist say down and looked over the public records and laws when it comes to federal retirement. This was place under the Clinton administration about double dipping. Example of DD, you retire from the military and start to work for the IRS or USPS. You could not collect your military retirement (20+ years) while working for the federal government. You retire from the IRS or USPS, you only receive that retirement, as Clinton put it. You still receive all your military benefit just not two federal pay checks. Now it you worked in the private sector, you would have been receiving your military retirement.

Now after looking into all the double dipping within the Federal payrolls he concluded we could cut the federal payroll almost in half and no job loss. Example would be Bill Clinton, two retirement checks for being the governor and his presidential retirement. Yes the federal government gives the state money to cover the retirement of position like governor. Three Federal Retirement Checks, now Hillary not any better. Two checks for the first lady of the state, one for the first lady to the president, one as a Senator and not her current pay check. Then you have the Gores, the Kennedy's and yes even the Bush's. But these are all illegal, but legal under the changes made by Bill Clinton. You see as he saw it, you were elected to your position by the people so the people will pay.

That just the tip of wasteful government spending.

ok, ran some more numbers. Pelosi's jet used hmm...let me see... .00001313% of the federal budget a year. This argument is outrageous that you would compare a $35,000 a year salary to $150,000,000,000 INCREASE in military spending per year which would make military spending 30% of the budget. And let's be realistic. $400,000,000 dollars of vacation money, cite your sources!

Ok, I am really puzzled to why you are focused on such small numbers. 4 million is a not even a spec of dust on pocket change for the 4.2 trillion dollar budget. 155 billion is though. Also (from a credible source, what the hell is "theblaze") I quote, "So far, President Obama has taken 61 vacation days after 31 months in office. At this point in their presidencies, George W. Bush had spent 180 days at his ranch where his staff often joined him for meetings. And Ronald Reagan had taken 112 vacation days at his ranch." And I think I'm just a bit better at research than you think. Also, can you please tell me which president has had the most expensive vacation and its price tag? (Hint: It's 5 times more expensive than Obama's trip to Hawaii)

As you stated, GW Bust spent time at his ranch, as in personally owned ranch and that is 180 days in 8 eight years. Obama has taken three time more days in less than 3 years. I am glad you think that millions of dollar is nothing, but if you look at his personal spending. That is just a insight on his spending in the government.

How about 1/2 billion to a failing Solar company that he had a personal interest in, oh wait that would be three failing solar companies that he had a investment in that went bankrupt that he gave over 1/2 billion US tax payer monies. And oddly enough he sold his holding only days before the bankruptcy were filled.

Leftists get upset when the government does things that are Constitutionally mandated.

They wish to drain the taxpayers' wallets on the things that give leftists more control over others. Leftists want to tell everyone else what they should do and not do because they mistakenly think they can create a perfect society if only they are allowed to make the rules. Most or all of these desires are to be found nowhere in the Constitution.

Their nonsense never works, yet the leftists rarely learn. They think , "If only we could have done a little MORE, then it would work."

Human nature never allows for it to work. Many tens of millions of people starved to death in Russia and China when these hair brained ideas were forced on the people.

The EPA's many regulations are leading us in this direction once again, especially with Obama living in the WH. In the end, a lack of food and Monsanto's GMO's will end up sickening or killing most of us.
