The GOP elite’s $1 million object lesson — and the message of NY-23

- Scozzafava, ...was denied the congressional seat because movement conservatives refused to support Arlen Specter in a skirt. This is a victory of principle.

Better a donkey in office that acts like a donkey than a donkey in elephant’s clothing making a complete ass of the GOP.... Read full article »

I think moderate and your average run of the mill Republicans are expelling large sighs of relief today.

Palin made her play, she tried to make herself relevant by interfering in a permanently GOP seated office-
it was an ill-conceived coup on her part that failed.

Hoping to become the new spokesperson of the right- and ride on a wave of public anger- possibly into the WH itself-
she inserted her own far rightwingnut "values", tried to create some conservative purist litmus test- and hopefully make a sweeping ideological purge of the entire GOP- with herself wearing the triumphant crown of the righteous defender of the true faith-

As the great Tip O'Neill quipped, "ALL politics is local."

A fact apparently lost on Palin, whose acumen and credibilty seem irrevocably shot.
Until her next tweet that is- which will be received by the RWNJ's with revolutionary fervor-
but forgetting what every seasoned politician knows,
elections are won and lost in the middle.

i told you all the conservative and libertarian members of the republican party are going to stop supporting the republicans party en mass.

This also means a lot more loses for both republicans and conservatives as they split the vote.

America is in the CENTER. You cant win elections with purist candidates. Good luck with that.

Completely wrong , this is just another case of party political power. Voters don't know issues they know “party lines” and it is a two party system. Pretending he lost to a hard core liberal because he is a conservative is just self serving liberal spin. The big loses we are seeing are the move by Latins who where never conservative back to the party they belonged in in the first place and their core fallowing them ...but when the dust settles on that mass migration and the reality of unemployment finally reaches the indigenous illegal population the outcome is far from the “liberal landslide” being predicted openly by democrats and quietly by you.

The importance of getting their liberal agenda passed with bi-partisan support is immesurable for it gives them cover for their doomed legislation.

To regain respect as a national party of conservatism we need a federalist purity test with less emphasis on social issues to eliminate the RINOs...

Thank you tea baggers for handing the democratic party another victory. Keep up the good in party fighting at the midterms! Or learn to swallow the whole GOP. Your choice.

My question: Who were the the 5 percent who wasted their vote on Scozzafava - liberal Republicans acting on their version of principle or ignoramuses who didn't realize she had dropped out of the race?

45% for Hoffman running on a third party ticket, that would make me think he is in great shape as a Republican for 2010. Hopefully the Republicans will not make a second mistake.

45% was a knee jerk reaction, people do not know hoffman, he is not even from that district. Now they get to see what he is really like so the next election will be more accurate.

Should be a huge improvement with Republican party support, more financial support and additional time to campaign.

Give the man credit for stepping up when there was a conservative vacuum. But we certainly can find a better candidate than Doug Hoffman, can't we?

I certainly hope we can find a better candidate... Hoffman was a little on the "boring" side.

Scozzafava was the reason for the Hoffman loss !!! Hoffman only ran for 90 days.
2010 will be very interesting considering Pelosi is insisting last night was actually a Democrat win !!! As I predicted two weeks ago the Dems are in denial !!!

Once again Malkin calls it like it is, and I bet the GOP is studying the results of not only this election but the victories last night, and the loss in 2008. They should be looking at the mounting evidence and come the conclusion the Democrats are the party who try to fool the people, and libs have a lock on that one. So they need to get back to being sincere and unapologetic about true conservatism, then they will be taken seriously by the voters.
