An obstructionist Republican/Tea Party Congress that has had one goal, GET OBAMA out of the White House. EVERYTHING else was second.

Well they have failed and Guess what. They are in for a big surprise in January when President Obama is sworn back in for another 4 years.

OK. I'm 46 years old. You claim to be 63. Haven't you, at 63 years old, experienced enough life and had enough life experiences to see the damage that Obama is doing to America? Why I can see that as a 46 year old but you can't at 63? What's going on there?

I can see what Bush II did and I can see what will happen if Romney/Ryan are elected and what will happen to the middle class and working poor.

I saw what Bush did also which resulted in Obama getting elected. But how do you justify what Obama is doing as less damage than what Bush did?

With an obstructionist congress and a Fascist political/Christo-Religious groups controlling the Republicans they are the biggest enemy the NATION, and the WORLD have.

Corporation outsourcing had been happning for decades and now is damaging the economy.Minimum wages are too low and do not meet the cost of living thus these people cannot spend and the economy suffers because of that. The wealthy do not pay into the system enough in taxes .

I agree on corporate outsourcing being a problem however a company has a right to outsource to save money. The jobs ultimately belong to the company, not the worker. It isn't really right but it's probably a necessary evil to stay competitive.

As far as the minimum wage being too low, says who? Minimum wage is exactly what it is! It isn't "average" wage. It is MINIMUM wage. Where is it written that the minimum wage is suppose to be a living wage? Are you honestly making the argument that the pizza boy is suppose to be making enough delivering pizzas to pay a mortgage, buy a car, put kids through college? No, you are not making that argument.

Then you go on to say, "The wealthy do not pay into the system enough in taxes." Uh, can you back that up with facts and sources? Or is that something you just hear from politicians who manipulate their base via class envy?

Common sense would say minimum wage should be a living wage.A person on minimum wage would have to work 80 hours a week to get by.Here it is about $10 per hour and that still is not enough to get by with the cost of living index.I have seen people of all ages working at minimum wage and are not living at home.I am not talking about mortgages or cars, just survival.I agree that companies have the right to outsource, but these companies do not help the economy.

No it shouldn't be a living wage. That's anything but common sense. If it's minimum wage, what the hell is average wage? What's maximum wage? Then why go to college to get a better paying job? Why should doctors or nurses struggle through years of training if delivering pizzas or working a check out counter at Wal Mart earns you enough income to live debt free? Then, ironically, you are the first to complain that the rich have it too well.

An average wage would vary depending on where one lives. In NYC it would likely be very much higher than in some small town in the midwest.I know someone personally that owns a business and cannot find anyone for an untrained position for less than $20 per hour, and is paying that wage.It comes down to the economy in a specific place or city.
  • Simmeri... Prime T... 2012/08/25 17:16:54
    Simmering Frog
Well, it's called "minimum" for a reason. If you don't like it (and who does long term?) then learn a skill or go to college so you won't have to work a minimum wage job. It isn't all that difficult a concept. Although if the Obama economy keeps up, the minimum wage will soon be the average wage. And I know that's what you don't want. Or is it?

My own wages are great, far from minimum wages. All that I am saying is that the cost of living is far surpassing wages for many people and it is hard for many to live even on $20 per hour.

    starving kid in africa

So get your rid of cell phone. People lived for thousands of years without it. Get rid of your big screen tv. Get rid of your internet service if you can't afford it.

Tell the kid in the picture that he can't live on $20.00 a day.

Banks aren't lending enough, people aren't buying enough, small companies aren't able to employ enough people and there is not an adequate incentive for large companies to employ more people.

Look in your shopping cart, jobs are created by consumer demand. When people have jobs they spend and invest money, all the stuff that has gone on in the financial institutions however since 2008, I feel will deter many future investors till they have more faith in a broken and corrupt system.

A weak leader, high unemployment, government regulations, no budget for 3 years, consumer confidence very low, companies sending jobs overseas, etc.., that's the perfect formula for a disaster. And the government printing money and spending like crazy.

The problem is not how much money the government collect, it's how much money they spend.

Because it's trying to handle massive changes and population growth with a political system only effective at handling old-world problems for old-world populations.

It's like having a tree grow from a small pot. For a while, the small pot is a great place to keep the ever-growing tree, but that pot isn't going to hold the tree forever.

Democracy is like a small pot and the modern world is like the growing tree. The world is growing too much for such a small and weak system.

I would say it is because the ones who set policy are doing rather well and have no desire to change anything. People will blame this party or that party, one politician or another but the truth of the matter is that its the same cabal of power brokers calling the shots regardless of who we elect. And they simply don't give a damn whether any of you have a job, a home or food to put on the table.

They've been shipping jobs out of the country for 40 years and the financial world of Wall Street has been allowed to keep debts on their books that should have been wiped out in either bankruptcy or a government takeover of the failed banks. We are still a sovereign nation capable of doing things in the public interest last I checked ... we should come together to fix this.
