The Cow and the Ice Cream, an explanation of how Obama Won......

THE COW AND THE ICE CREAM

ONE OF THE BEST EXPLANATIONS
OF WHY OBAMA WON THE ELECTION
From a teacher in the Nashville area

"We are worried about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream"

The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year.
The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.
I decided we would have an election for a class president.

We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.

To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.
We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.
We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.

The class had done a great job in their selections. Both candidates were good kids.
I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support.
I had never seen Olivia's mother.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.
Jamie went first.
He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better
place. He ended by promising to do his very best.
Everyone applauded and he sat down.

Now is was Olivia's turn to speak.

Her speech was concise.
She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream."
She sat down.
The class went wild. "Yes! Yes!
We want ice cream."

She surely would say more. She did not have to.
A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream?
She wasn't sure.
Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it.
She didn't know.
The class really didn't care.
All they were thinking about was ice cream.

Jamie was forgotten. Olivia won by a landslide.

Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and
52 percent of the people reacted like nine year olds.
They want ice cream.
The other 48 percent know
they're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess."

Remember, the government cannot give anything to anyone ---
that they have not first taken away from someone else.
You!

Yep, you hit the nail on the head.
    Thanks!

Yep, you are correct that's the way Obama is or actually the way that this dictator is. And now he is planning to change everything so he can be voted in the next time around. We need to take our country back.

What a load of crap. What the Right doesn't seem to get is that Democrats work and pay taxes and don't complain, but when we need help because of bad times or catastropic illness or whatever, we want benefits to help us through the bad times - we want OUR taxes to HELP US not kill brown people. We DON"T WANT YOUR ANYTHING, we want what we - the American People who actually make this country work - have earned. The Republicans at the top know this - and they lie to Americans, 48% of which are stupid enough to believe them.

Democrats and Republicans are not that monolithic about *anything* much less being hard workers who don't normally depend on government assistance. Some Democrats work hard, so do some Republicans. Some Democrats mooch off the taxpayer, so do some Republicans. The party platform of the GOP is against the moochers, the party platform of the Democrats is pro-moocher. That's the difference.

And get serious about the war talk. Or maybe you'd like to explain what our national interest was in overthrowing Libya?

This shows grave contempt for both the President and the people who voted for (and/or campaigned for) him.
It's a poor description of the election and borders on hate.
My generation (Xers) is paying for the ice cream that the three generations ahead of us got -- not the other way around. Sad, but true. And President Obama is a member of my generation, so my bet is that he's quite sensitive to the realities of money.
You really ought to show more respect for our electoral system and for your FELLOW CITIZENS and their capacity to cast their own votes based on their own reasonable perspective. Denigrating Obama supporters as illogical and ill-informed elementary school students is completely inappropriate behavior -- sort of like the behavior of illogical and ill-informed elementary school students.
Our system relies on peaceful transfers of power based on the public will and common good. Even losing candidates sit there and watch the inauguration of their successors without sounding like whiney brats. You can do at least as well as that.

Not contempt, just the truth about the majority of people who voted for Obama! Had they done some true research on Obama and his philosophies, they could not have supported him, unless they were of like mind, that is, to socialize America. He thinks the Constitution is a flawed document and is doing all he can to destroy it! I pity you, if you can't see that. You can't spend your way out of debt, and it is the wealthy who create jobs, not government. Penalize them, and they don't invest their capitol in projects that create jobs. Wake up! 2010, the conservatives WILL take back Congress and put a stop to the left-wing tax and spend policies!

MORE BS. We knew what we were voting for - NOT right-wingers bordering on Facist. The only problem with Obama is he sticks too close to the Center and hasn't done enough to move the country away from the exteme right and back to the left.

I would say the non-rich who vote Republican are the illogical and somewhat less than intelligent ones.

I doubt you could give a coherent explanation of what a fascist is. Fascism was all about public/private partnerships, rejecting capitalism (as well as communism). It was a disaster and they quickly figured out they needed scapegoats or they were in trouble so the jews and the gypsies and all the rest of the 12 million camp deaths stood in as a grotesque distraction. Go read liberal fascism by Jonah Goldberg.

Looks like we have consensus that Senator Obama's supporters out-politiced Senator McCain's supporters.
    Next battle: November 2012.
Enjoy or decline the ice cream and move on!

It seems that the kids in that class are representative of Obama voters. Let's hope they are not representative of the American voter next election.

Liberals are all about utopian schemes and good intentions. But, very much like 9 year olds, they never think past "stage 1"--I want. They ignore stages 2, 3 or 4--how are we going to pay? what will this do to the economy? etc. "there ain't no such thing as a free lunch--tanstafl" (or free ice cream).

WE PAY - with OUR TAXES that the Republcians like to spend on bombs - while we prefer a safety net that the Republicans TRUE constituants - the Corporations and thier rich CEOs don't expect to need. Don't believe anything a Republican says.

I did vote for President Obama, but am very angry at his stance on the illegal issue, his sending troops into Afghanistan, his stupid wasteful spending, his lack of basic economic knowledge, and his superior attitude. I despised Bush, and that wasteful Iraq war. I usually change parties; don't believe in total loyalty to any political party.

I'm sorry, but the spending he has done has, by independant observers here and abroad, has turned the recession around and prevented a full depression. His annual deficits actually went DOWN from Bush's. Though I hate the war in Afghanistan, Bush started it in our country's name, then abandoned it for his personal vendetta in Iraq. Though I hate the idea, we were commited in Afghanistan, and the President had no choice but to try and finish it right. I think he has much better knowledge of the economy than you give him credit for, and if you want a superior attitude, talk to a Tea Partier, Rupert Murdoch or the Koch Brothers. He IS fixing things, which the Republicans hate - they WANT a weak federal government because they want corporate power. Remember, it was George Bush Sr. that mention a "New World Order" - a weak federal government, regional fracturing, an under-educated public - this is what can be expected with a return to power of the Republicans.
