Although I'm not one to support "preemptive" strikes, I am one that advocates allowing individuals to protect themselves with the best tools available. Just as we have fire extinguishers in kitchens, life jackets around the water & in boats, and a spare tire in our cars, we also need to have the proper tools to deal with an unprovoked attack by a criminal, thug or terrorist.
We disallow 700,000 off duty police officers from carrying their service weapon with them when they fly commercially, and we disallow the 6 MILLION concealed weapons permit holders to have their gun in their carryon bags in a commercial airline, but its well known that if a hijacker takes over an aircraft and wants to fly it into the capital, the Whitehouse or the pentagon, our military will blow that plane out of the sky.
So it’s okay for the gov't to kill us if we are a victim of a hijacking, but it’s NOT okay for us to defend ourselves with our own concealed firearm. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. NOT
So France where civilians cannot carry guns is attached by an armed Jihadist and finally is taken down by the cops after a 30 hour stand-off...
Well, ain't that just spiffy...
Be safe, travel armed! Because when seconds count... the Police are just MINUTES AWAY!

France had a single Islamic Jihadist murder at least seven people in three different terrorist attacks. French authorities descripted the terrorist, Mohammed Merah, a 23-year-old man, as a self-styled al Qaeda jihadist. They had ongoing surveillance on the convict after the US military handed him over to the French in Afghanistan. The terrorist had prior criminal convictions in France. Yet, France failed to stop him. CNN reports:
Innocent people died as France moved slowly to engage this known criminal and terrorist. A convict with ties to terrorist groups and training in Afghanistan should not have the opportunity to commit three terrorist attacks.
Don't overestimate the failures of government, particularly against Islamic terror. Bureaucrats and law enforcement both fear the politically correct police who label people as "Islamophobic" for preventing terrorism.
Remember the Fort Hood terrorist attack by a known radical Muslim, Nidal Malik Hasan? They should have stopped him earlier too.
And remember the New York Times Square bomber, Faisal Shahzad? They knew about his trips to terrorist training trips to Pakistan and ignored him as a threat (in fact, they gave him citizenship).
And remember the Christmas Day underwear bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab? His father tried reporting him as a threat, but the government ignored his pleas. They also ignored his paying for his one-way ticket in cash, no luggage, etc...

A French national of Algerian origin, he had been under surveillance by French intelligence for a couple of years, having "already committed certain infractions, some with violence," Gueant told CNN affiliate BFM-TV.US military turned the terrorist over to the French authorities in Afghanistan. France also tracked him after the first murders. Reuters reports:
Gueant said police identified the IP address he used because he was already under surveillance for radical Islamist beliefs.
"We knew, and that is why he was under surveillance, that he had travelled to Afghanistan and Pakistan," the minister said.

I guess that is why France has no-police zones full of immigrants who have no desire to assimilate into their society. In 10-15 years they will be over-run.

France and Britain are being over-run. we should all be learning from this.
The solution: let the people arm themselves.

Had they been able to make an arrest when he killed the first victims I am sure they would have.
