Because every time minimum wage goes up so does the price of EVERY product you use. EVERY SINGLE ONE. The companies don't just eat the change in the bottom line. Just like when taxes go up. YOU the consumer pays the difference.
Minimum wage jobs are set asides. NO ONE can live on minimum wage alone. You are not supposed to. Aspire to more and then WORK TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. Min wage is for students (who live at mom and dads house) and the seniors who want to work (but have income from retirement etc). It is for an entry level, no skill required job. Stick with it and aquire some skills and get a raise. Go back to school and get a raise.
The raise you get when min wage goes up (if YOU even see a raise) will be gone the first time you go to McDonalds. Or Walmart.
Min wage is not good for our country at all, and keeping it "going up" is very bad.
Tell me why the government shouldn't raise the minimum wage?

I agreed and suggested how to make things really good.
Which of your positions is wrong?
You still can't explain why a small increase in minimum wage is wonderful but you don't support a large increase in minimum wage with no explanation of why.
And gas prices are out of control because of inflation, not the other way around.
The chicken below me blocked me. I don't know what part of I'm not Republican he doesn't seem to get.
Minimum wage is just another way to debase the currency by driving up prices without increasing productivity.
And the biggest increase is always among the poor and minorities.
When wages for the unskilled and uneducated go up you have to raise everyone else up also. In the end you're still at the bottom and everything costs more so you've gained absolutely nothing!
So minimum wage increase by 40% since the year 2000 and gas increased by only 311%
Now I know liberals will not agree with a connection but during that same time period
Bread went from $0.91 to $1.42 for a increase of 56%
Ground Beef from $1.90 to 3.29 for a increase of 73%
Whole Chicken from $1.06 to $1.33 for a increase of 25%
Eggs from $0.98 to $1.94 for a increase of 202%
Coffee from $3.54 to $5.50 for a increase of 55%
Do you get it, a increase of the minimum wage is not helping it is hurting. The minimum wage is not meant to be a living wage. Yes many have had to choice a minimum wage job, but many have only worked minimum wages job because of the type of work ethics they choice. As minimum wage goes up so does the cost of living. Just because those who see a increase based on the minimum wage, it only closes the gap between those whom have worked and achieved a hire income.
How would you like to be that cashier who worked for two year and received a pay raise each year, yet the new employee just starting will make as much as you. Would you not feel cheated, two years of work and you both will be making $10 per hour. Get it straight, no matter if it is Wal Mart, McDonalds or your local shop, they are not going to raise ...

By the wage these number were provide by the Bureau of Labor Statistics
We look and see that higher minimum wages are pushing up the cost of products.
I want the government to stop price fixing labour costs so the prices of products can stabalize.
Higher minimum wage causes higher product prices resulting in a demand for more minimum wage increases causing more price increases ...
Someone with no job skills is SOL. They NEVER get a legal job.
Thank you minimum wage!
But since you brought it up, ethanol is another example of government forcing people to purchase a substandard product at a premium price.
While employers can refuse to hire workers who are not worth the government dictated minimum wage, if you drive a car the government has s**##ed you.
