Ted Nugent

Ted Nugent feels insulted.

LOS ANGELES — Ted Nugent said he was
insulted by the cancellation of his planned concert at an Army post over
his comments about President Obama.

Commanders at the Fort Knox, Ky., post nixed Nugent's segment of a
June concert after the rocker and conservative activist said at a recent
National Rifle Association meeting that he would be "dead or in jail by
this time next year" if Obama is re-elected.

Nugent told The Associated Press this week that his words were not intended as a threat against the president.

"To think that there's a bureaucrat in the United States Army that
would consider the use or abuse of First Amendment rights in determining
who is going to perform at an Army base is an insult and defiles the
sacrifices of those heroes who fought for the U.S. Constitution, Bill of
Rights," Nugent said.

I picked yes simply because he has every right to feel insulted. I suppose if I was scheduled to perform somewhere and they cancelled me, I would likely feel insulted too.

But the fact is while we have freedom of speech, we do not have freedom from consequences. He said something that offended the people who hired him, so they fired him. That is the way the world works. If I publicly said things about my boss that offended her, she would fire me in a heartbeat. And while I would be upset. She would have every right to do so. I can say what I want, but I must be prepared to face the consequences.

1st of all, in no way did he threaten the panty-waist potus with his statements. That is ridiculous.
2nd-it wasn't the soldiers who stopped the concert. It was the brass, fearing the wrath of the commie-in-chief.

That would ALMOST be amusing, if he is actually insulted. He may be, because he feels free to insult anyone in public, in disgusting ways, and laugh about it. When he is questioned about his words or actions, he becomes a blustering bully.
Sadly, he will probably go out and kill some animals on his canned hunt ranch, just to get his frustration out. Just for the hell of it..........

I really don't like being censored at all ..... So why would everyone want to censor someone who is famous !!

Just like Jackson, Sharpton, and all the other Black Activists who pull the card .....

    Where's my card .... I'll tell you !!!...... I have a voter's card ...... I plan to use it in November 2012 ... I will use it then .. this I promise you !! That's something you haven't taken from me ..... yet

    Wow, Nick.

    Just.

    Wow.

Freedom of speech does not equate to 'freedom from consequences.'

Let people say whatever they wish... as long as they are prepared to deal with the ramifications of what they say.

As for that part about famous people being censored; somehow fame makes certain people more 'worthy' of being heard than everyone else?

    Really?

I didbn't say he should pardoned for what he did or say.. I am saying i don't want to lose my rights.
But he is famous .... but he has the Freedom of Speech ... last time I checked ..
Besides ... Don't i have the right to put my opinion on here as well . Yes really !!!

I don't see how deciding not to have Ted Nugent play at a military concert infringes on your rights.

I also don't recall stating or implying that you cant think what you want, but I'll be damned if I'll feel "ashamed" for thinking like I do.

He has the right to his opinion; the military has the right to avoid the controversy that would result in having him perform.

    *shrugs

You're confusing rights with consequences. No one is taking away Ted's rights, he can still bad mouth the Prez all he wants. The Constitution guarantees freedom of speech, but it doesn't guarantee protection from the social consequences of that speech if other people don't like it.

If you badmouth your boss publicly, your boss has the right to fire you. Ted was hired by the military, he was fired by the military. Nothing more.

No Ted, the First Amendment doesn't mean you can sing anywhere and everywhere. If I owned private property, that doesn't mean you can hold a concert there. The people who organize the concert have the right to choose whoever they want to be there. Why they chose a second rate draft dodging has been in the first place is beyond me, but it's their call to make, not mine or yours or Ted's.

yes, he has a right to be insulted. all he was doing was stating his personal opinion (which I personally AGREE with) OBAMA NEEDS TO GO! he has already abolished the right to due process, what's next? it looks like the media has already made it a crime to enact the right to free speech just by what has happened here, and to many others who have simply tried to state their opinion publicly, honestly, freedom is a JOKE In the US now. we are not free, we are controlled and manipulated into turning against each other! WE NEED TO STAND UNITED! the more we let the media divide us, the more power the government will have to destroy us!

you don't F with the military. not even Teddy can discredit the arms forces of the USA and get away with it.
  • LisaCurrie gary 2012/06/26 00:39:56
    LisaCurrie
first off he was not discrediting the armed forces. He has been a strong supporter of the troops. he is just against the WAR. being against the war is a LOT different than being against the troops. just because he doesn't believe in the principles behind the war does not mean he doesn't support those out there being forced to fight it. so get your facts straight before you go throwing accusations around. He was simply stating his opinion which was that Obamma has to get the hell out of office and we need to get someone who knows what they are doing in his place. because obummer has done more to destroy this nation than Bush could have ever dreamed of doing. the only difference is Bush didn't blame it on someone else. seriously wake UP PEOPLE! stop acting like sheep! learn to think for yourselves and pay attention to what is going on around you and stop watching american idol or whatever stupid "reality" show you are addicted to and start paying attention to the REAL reality!

Not it wasn't. Ted has the right to say whatever he wants, other people have the right to shun him if they don't like what he says.

The Constitution guarantees freedom of speech, it doesn't guarantee freedom from the social consequences of speech.
