Tea Party Patriots: Stupid, Or Corrupt?

GuruA2J~#IOKIYAR~618 BLOCKT 2012/05/26 21:57:12

Ever since I could remember I've had a problem with people who take advantage of others. Maybe that's why I decided to embrace the label of "bleeding heart Liberal." There's something honorable about caring about & feeling empathy for hurting people. Especially when the Holy Bible instructs that if my enemy is hungry to feed them, if they're thirsty to give them something to drink.

The Tea Party came into this world the same way a baby does; screaming and crying. Mainly they screamed and cried about the deficit, taxes and fiscal responsibility. It turns out, when it comes to spending, they’re still babes in the woods. Their latest IRS filing shows the Tea Party Patriots took in more than $12 million in fundraising, so how did only $3.4 million of that go to their actual ‘mission’ programs?

Mother Jones obtained the Tea Party Patriots’ full IRS filing, and it’s an abject lesson in how fools and their money part. The most damning evidence is found on page 20, shown here:

Here you find MDS Communications, a telemarketing firm that took in on behalf of the TPP $680,581.00 , a tidy sum. Sadly for the cause, they charged $665,581 for their services, leaving the fiscally hawkish TPP, $15k. Then there’s the $1.4 million that was given to the Richard Norman Company, for “fundraising counsel,” a figure made more remarkable when you learn Richard Norman, is now TPP’s national finance chair.

You’d think he could have given them a discount.

But it doesn’t end there. Mother Jones reports the Tea Party Patriots also spent $758,000 on its own salaries, $587,000 on travel, as well as $250,000 in legal fees that mostly went to suing other Tea Partiers.

For the vast majority of people who identify with and donate to this movement, those would seem like some pretty generous amounts of money these people are helping themselves to. But most of them will probably never know. Their names and financial information are shared with slick fundraising outfits and ‘counsel’ who make very nice livings off of them. Then they take that money for personal use, and to lobby for the slashing of social programs, that might be the only safety left for the people they’re cheating.

Like taking candy from a baby.

I think this IRS form is fraudulent. There is no leadership from any one person/group in the tea party. It's a grassroots movement - not a political party... Today's media has a hard time with this concept!

There have been a number of Tea Party "groups" & different people have come forward saying they are they head of that particular group. Clarence Thomas' wife heads a tea party group. If they do any kind of fund-raising they'd have to register in some kind of way, even if its as a non-profit.

When you allow a movement to be quickly bought and corrupted, and the message changed just so you can keep the powerbrokers in power then you become stupid. Especially when you basically wind up voting against your very own interests! The teaparty movement should forever be rebranded the "Koch brothers movement to corrupt and destroy America"!!

A grassroots movement quickly taken over and corrupted by the GOP with the prime purpose of electing hand picked Republican extremists into the House and Senate in 2010 with the help of these poor bamboozled original members votes.

Sanctimonious right wing extremists who call themselves Patriots while they drag down our economy for ideological reasons. Its pretty sad when only twenty five or so Tea Party member's of congress can essentially hold their breath until they get their demands met never mind the consequences. (Drop in America's credit rating.)

When we were looking at the very real possibility of another depression instead of working towards a solution to the unemployment crisis they demanded we focus on the deficit instead. When the economy was contracting and the Govt. was the entity capable of stimulating job growth they demanded deep cuts in govt. spending at the worst possible time all the while vehemently protecting tax breaks and loopholes for corporations and Wall St. executives along with the wealthiest 1% of Americans.

I don't know if I'd call them stupid or corrupt but rather willfully ignorant, what I do know is that despite their claims otherwise they are no patriots, far from it in fact. tea party damage cartoons

" There's something honorable about caring about & feeling empathy for hurting people"

There certainly is, but it ceases to impress when you mug & rob hard working taxpayers to make yourself feel better and I'd send you a box of band-aids for your bleeding hear if I could ....because I care

Ya know something Rusty, I'd rather go to my grave as a bleeding heart Liberal than a cold-hearted Conservative. BTW, I worked just as hard as any other taxpayer before I became disabled. I don't consider paying taxes as some horrible deed to be avoided at all costs. I consider it the price of living in a country I love that has been good to me & my family.

Most are scared blind followers being used by the officials such as Palin, Beck and few other off springs of the Tea party for financial gain . The tea party started off with good intentions until they was hijacked by these individuals that seen a way to use them for their own personal gain through fear tactics .

Sarah Palin used her donations to go on a nationwide bus tour vacation last year, Sherriff Joe is using the rubes donations to go to Hawaii.

I've read plenty about them. They make me sick & their companies are so diversified that they've insulated themselves from being hurt by boycotts. I refuse to buy from the companies they own but it would take a coordinated effort across multiple fronts (especially the housing industry) to hurt them.

It really does make you sick to thing this is also the kind of people Robmey associates with too. And they talk about Obama being friends with Rev. Wright. I think this is 10x worse! And anytime they the Koch Brothers do get caught, well they will just "settle" without admission of wrong doing. The Sleezy Brothers is more fitting. One of the people on here, claims to know one of them as working some land deal. I told him, it wouldn't be something I would be bragging about. But he's another Robmey wanna be. Wealth from doing nothing, but stealing from others.

I know what you mean my friend. When people hang around those who conspire & then legislate taking people's rights from them it's a whole lot more dangerous than some preacher who says things you don't agree with.

Exactly. It's damn scary, when you have this kind of power + money working against all of us. They don't care about Robmey per say, it's what he can do for them. I'm sure that since they run in the same circles, all the winks and nods can go both ways. It doesn't weigh well for the poor and middle class schmucks who is just trying to get by. And you have people like Ann Robmey saying things like "I don't feel wealthy"!? WTF!! Yeah, well try to convince people that the preacher was just expressing his 1st amendment rights. Just like "Uncle Ted" and it's apples and oranges.

I wonder what wealthy "feels" like? I know what poor feels like. I have medication that is gonna run out tomorrow & I won't have the co-pay for it until Friday. My laundry hamper is full & I don't have laundry detergent. I'm kinda glad I held on to the plastic grocery bags from the store cuz I don't have 13 gal. bags to put inside my tall kitchen garbage can.

If Ann Romney wants to trade places with me for just ONE MONTH she'll know what its like for those of us on the lowest end of the economic scale. Maybe then she'll know what if FEELS like to be RICH!

I'm sorry to hear you are in a bad way. It really sucks, when it's the end of the month and you are waiting on that check. I know my husband is disabled and his meds are REALLY expensive. And then mine on top of that.
Do you have any Baking Soda? You can use that in your wash. At least you would have some clean clothes.
Yeah, I would let Ann come stay at my house for a month too. And no housekeepers and chauffeurs.

I don't have baking soda but I do have some empty water bottles I could take to the redemption center for the deposit. I've got about 3 bags of them & that would get me enough money to buy a box of baking soda plus would free up them 3 bags for garbage. Thank you, you just helped in brainstorming solutions for 2 of my problems.

I buy big bags of Baking Soda from Walmart for about $5 or $6 dollars. If that too much just get a few of the smaller boxes. It's not a total solution. But it will help for now. I'm glad I could help you out. Wish I could do more my friend.
