The sad thing is, JUST LIKE FANNIE & FREDDIE, these companies would probably still be alive (albeit smaller), if Obama hadn't tried to help something that needed to grow and gain momentum on it's own. He's actually HURT green energy. Just like all those unqualified home owners who really couldn't handle a mortgage- if they were working on having a credit rating, Obama and Barnney Frank et al sure sabotaged that

Government has proven it cannot run a business.

Government enforced, taxpayer sponsored programs don't work. They just steal from the taxpayer. Bleeding money at every turn...

No surprise here. Look, the reality is that if these technologies were really so great, companies wouldn't need taxpayer subsidies to make them happen. I'm sick to death of the government using my taxpayer dollars to prop up industries that would not otherwise exist.

If you think that's bad, Think what is lost to military spending, the replacement of outdated equipment, the updating of non-replaced equipment, replacement of one time use smart bombs, rockets, ammunition during practice and actual military operational use, the upkeep of a stagnant nuclear arsenal, lose due to equipment failure, loses to improper maintenance, maintenance itself, theft, fuel usage for practice, for the need to make a presence known, as well as, actual combat usage, loses due to operator error, helicopters, fighter jets, missiles, tanks, ships, etc, investment into expensive war technology never employed and than canceled. Hardly seems fair to compare, but than again your talking tax payer investment and lose versus whats the gain. The largest most expensive military in the world and the loses to keeping and having it versus another risky stab at trying to create the energy of the future. There's no comparison of the two in loses to tax payers. But, both prove to be a necessity in their own right and both are needed if America is to survive in the future. With success comes failure, its just the price that has to be payed in-order to meet the goal.

The country needs to be run by business men and women not a bunch of lawyers and an empty suited community organizer who never had a real job and couldn't pass Economics 101. Obama's a total failure. NOBAMA in 2012!!

That's funny. Tell why solar companies in China aren't filing bankruptcy?

because republicans in Capitol Hill and Wall Street want US-based companies to fail so that they opportunistically can say the US investing in solar power is a waste of time and money. Wall Street has forced “green jobs”, the market, subsidies to be exported to China, meaning that Europeans and Americans subsidize Chinese jobs and industry, with no CO2 reductions. For ex, Beijing's massive supply side loan subsidies have helped China's energy industry giants, but more nimble service oriented manufactures have found short term windows of opportunity in countries offering demand side tax credit incentives.

The US Department of Energy estimates China's solar manufacturer subsidies at $34 billion compared to the US at 1.3 billion.

republicans have needlessly burdened the economy. We cannot afford to repeat the same mistake of republicans.

Another one bites the dust. Instead of simulating the economy with the billions of dollars of taxpayer money, it seems he's just throwing money up in the air and seeing if it sticks.

At least the company only borrowed $30 million. They were offered $400 million. I think Abound really tried to reduce cost and just failed against the Chinese market.

Solyndra received over half a billion dollars before they failed.

Companies setting up wind turbines and photovoltaic cells are only making money because of heavy subsidies. The funding is removed, the company folds.

Well, isn't that special. That's just like throwing good money after bad. Perhaps there is a reason that these companies are not working here in the US and maybe someone should figure that out before we waste more tax dollars on a failed business.
