Question US

(Subtract "Against" votes from "For" votes for net results.) If only the women currently running for president were on the ballot in the general election and you could vote for or against anyone, how would you vote?

    Barack Obama. (Write-in)

I honestly had to look into it carefully after I made this poll, but I have made up my mind. Originally I was thinking I think I would either vote for Kat, or write in Barack Obama. While any of the candidates in this poll would have been acceptable to me up until recently, Hillary Clinton has lost my respect, and I am now bordering on siding with a vote directly against her given these choices on the ballot, but while I still have nothing against the other candidates, Barack Obama still has the most positive potential in my opinion... so he gets my vote, even if I'm the only one to vote for him here.

Anyway, I hope people like this poll.

Subtract the votes AGAINST each candidate from the votes FOR that same candidate to get the candidate's net vote count. The highest net vote count indicates who is leading. This is a single vote balanced plurality voting system. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

Cool. Have you seen my latest poll? We managed to win, but it nearly cost me my life... still might yet. I'm working on preventing that.

I would write in a vote for my candidate but gender is not important to me

I would write in Barack Obama on the ballot. I examine each person that is could possibly take the position and whether they are on the ballot or not...the best person will get my vote.

If enough people thought that way, the huge flaw in the election system could not be exploited by the greedy rich and powerful.... but unfortunately, not enough do. Please have a look at my latest poll, and invite your friends to reply to the comment you leave there.... so we can get a meaningful discussion going.

    Vote for Kat Swift

Thank you for raising awareness that there are more than just two parties running in this election! I had no idea who Swift and Ruart were until now. It prompted me to go out there and find out a little about them. Again, thanks.

You're welcome. Stay tuned... I plan to make another dual-vote poll soon with yet a different selection of candidates that are currently runing. I know this idea of more than 2 parties actually having a chance is new to most people, but it's old news to me. I've been advocating for it more than half my lifetime.

What do you think Nader's chances are if Hillary wins? I figure he is busy fighting to get his name on the ballots right now and that's why we haven't heard anything from him. He's missing a prime opportunity to get into the fray. If I thought he could win and Hillary was the nominee, I would definitely vote for him. I just don't want McCain to win . . .

Sorry I didn't get around to replying to this sooner. Never figured nader had a chance... not really anyway. I understand the math too well for that. Actually, that's why Obama was able to beat the odds and the dirty money... because I passed that math on to people who in turn passed it on to him. I have since been tortured extensively because of it, and had to flee the Americas for my life after being hunted across three countries. Please have a look at my latest poll, and let me know what you think.

    Vote for Hillary Clinton

I believe any other choice on this poll would be a waste of my one precious vote.

Then you missed the point. With a balanced plurality system a candidate can win based on their own merits because people are no longer forced to cast a vote for someone that they don't really want just for their vote to matter... but it's okay. The system works even if not everybody gets it.

Including your vote for Hillary, and the write-in vote against Hillary, here are the net vote results at this time
    (~2pm, 4/29/2008)...

2 net votes for Cynthia McKinney
0 net votes for or against Kat Swift
0 net votes for or against Mary Ruwart
    1 net vote against Hillary Clinton (1 - 2 = -1)

So far, a Green Party / Peace & Reform Party candidate is winning.
The Democratic party candidate still has a negative net vote count, in spite of your voting for her because you're used to an unbalanced plurality voting system where only two parties have a chance based on which parties are known to have won in the past. In other words... I've eliminated the biggest flaw in the electoral system.

Yeah, I hear you... but in elections that only count positive votes, I think that would be a waste of a vote. Still, she keep up what the negative stuff and the mood swings and then wins the primaries, I may insist on the right to cast a negative vote in the general election... not to vote against her, but to vote directly against McCain so that my vote isn't "for" her but also isn't against the write-in votes for Barack Obama... which I expect there will be a lot of.

Oh, by the way... Against Hillary was one of the options in this poll... but it's all good. Thanks for the vote and the comment. :)

I hope you are happy with the results of the real election. :) I know... not perfect... but considering the choices that were being offered by those who usually make the choice for everyone... I think the people did pretty well. :)

I know, I should have picked None of the Above for a write in... but I hadn't yet looked into the candidates well enough when I made the poll, so I put in Undecided with the intention of editing my comment after doing my research on each of the candidates.

If you like this poll, please take a look at some of my other polls too and tell your friends about the ones that you like, so that I can get a good sampling of voters.

Here's a link to my poll list...

You can find an old write-up of mine on the idea of adding a negative vote, at...
    http://geocities.com/technoze...

Please ask your senators and congressmen to advocate for such a right, so that we may have a fair and balanced electoral system some day...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

You might also consider mentioning the idea to the Barack Obama campaign or to the campaign of your candidate of choice for the 2008 election. This simple electoral reform would be a wonderful change without being unreasonably complicated or costly. I would like to see our next president support it.
