I agree, im 21 not looking to buy a new car or run up thousands in student loans or even the thousands ppl spend on an apartment but looking for a cheap house on the market i can fix up and sell or live in. Many people thats mad now are the ones in debt chasing a dream they cant afford.

I'll get by not matter what; it's my son that I worry about. Employee pensions are being reduced, he may not have Social Security to fall back on. I'm still employed (knock on wood). Families are going to have to help each more. In other countries, everyone lives under the same roof to pool their finances and provide for each other. Americans will have to open their hearts and minds to the "old ways".

But that makes sense if nearly half the country is on some form of government assistance.Time to get America working again

Perhaps because we're in a recession? The only way govt can get ppl working again is by direct spending. Companies arent broke, many have billions in cash right now but consumers arent spending.

Actually it's trillions being held and kept off the markets.No one in their right mind is would invest with the uncertainy created by the current administration. Who can save in this rotten economy?

Don't look now, but the economy is slowly getting better. If you haven't noticed the housing market has bottomed in some areas, prices are starting to creep up again. Interest rates for a mortgage are at historic lows. The main hang in the economy is corporations are hording cash, something a little over two trillion dollars worth. Since the majority of businesses are Republican owned, ask them why they're not plowing back cash into the economy and if they get the chance they move more and more production off shore. Facts, again that make right wingers look awfully stupid. What is and should be scary is many companies have learned through automation and better technology to get along fine and make bigger profits with less employees. Also if they hire, the usually hire part-time to avoid paying any or limited benefits.

Then tell me why more and more families are moving into together just to survive! The price of gas keeps gong up. Utilities keep going up. Paychecks don't go as far as they used to. A lot of people are still losing jobs and houses. NOTHING is better!

Depends how you define "better". Nobody is arguing these are good times, but for sure they aren't as bad as some on the right try to pretend. What I always find amusing is why people try to blame the president for things beyond his control.

For example take gas prices. That's pure market supply and demand combined with speculators driving up future oil contracts, normal down time repair of pipe lines, switching over to different mixes and responding to world events. All things no president can directly control.

The reality is most of our oil doesn't come from the middle East, it comes from just across the border in Canada. All the noise about digging for new oil in Alaska and buiding new piplines wouldn't put a single drop of new oil on the market until years into the future. Besides all the oil companies are sitting on vast expances of as yet untouched land leases on federal land gotten years ago, some decades ago. Why aren't the oil companies drilling there?

Finally it is American still having gas guzzlers like SUV's and if you've even been to Texas or other Western states you see most everyone riding around in pickup trucks which if lucky get 12-15 miles per gallon. Such people do most of the bitching and are often the ones that waste most.

We out here in the west have families we travel with. Teeny tiny cars are not safe. we also haul things, you can't do that in a freaking Hugo! We aren't drilling here because Owebamaloney won't let us!

I do what I believe in. Here's what I drive. On average get just under 50 MPH. No it isn't a teeny tiny car either. It is pleny large enough.

Who said i have one. I don't even have one. yes it is tiny If something rear ends you, you will be squashed like a bug. Do you know disable people can't even get in those teeny tiny cars, Not good for child seats and passengers either.

Like me, I think many people have had to begin using their retirement monies (nest egg) to support themselves while looking for another job. I'm hoping the Rapture will occur before I run out of funds. It's ridiculous to go on the government dole when the government is broke & way in the red. ;-)

I wouldn't count on the rapture. Might not be for another thousand years. I mean it was supposed to happen in 1999, if you are a pretribber. Then there are midtribbers that believe it won't happen for 3 and 1/2 years into the tribulation. And then there are the post tribbers that believe that you will go through the whole tribulation before the rapture occurse. 2 of the three theories of rapture put Christians going through at least half of it. Not very good odds there that you will escape before the pain comes. I'd expect the worst if I were you.

The worst thing about today's times, is that we cannot save enough for retirement, it gets more and more expensive every year... I worry about it at 30 years old - but my grandparents, who are retired, laugh about it, they say don't stress, it's come when you need it...
