Steve Jobs Is Barbara Walters' Most Fascinating Person: Appropriate or Odd?

Every year, Barbara Walters puts together a list of who she considers to be the year's most fasinating people. Last year, Gen. David Petraeus topped the list for his leading position in the War in Afghanistan. Her picks are always timely, and up until now they've always been living icons so she could interview them. Walters made an exception this year by naming late Apple CEO Steve Jobs her Most Fascinating Person of the Year.

Walters explained that she had already picked Jobs as her Most Fascinating Person when he resigned as CEO of Apple, before his unfortunate passing. But she simply couldn't replace him. Who else could possibly hold that title? Simon Cowell? Derek Jeter? Herman Cain? The Kardashians? They all made the list, but to place them above Jobs would have bordered on blasphemy.

From what I hear, he was a nightmare of a boss. Condescending, belittling, perfectionist. He assisted if the outsourcing of jobs overseas. What has he done for the advancement of the human race? What lives have been saved? What do starving children in 3rd world countries think of him? I don't own anything from apple, so my answer would be, meh. We're obviously in love with our own technology.

Bill Gates won their battle and was responsible for getting Apple back on it's feet (Bought a large chunk of Apple and brought back Jobs) but Jobs was a fascinating man and took Apple to new heights.

Walters is 80 amd has been interviewing for a long time. I can't believe Jobs is number 1. She is too old to remember the earlier interviews.

Hey maybe if he was voted in instead of obama, he could have figured out a way to do the opposite of what obama did for the economy XD. I know that's wishful thinking, but nonetheless the man was and still is a genious

Of course Barbara Walters' whole list is pointless. I saw her talk about it on O'Reilly, but couldn't guess and don't care who else is on the list. I'm sure Jobs was far more interesting a person than the celebritwits who undoubtedly filled out her list.

I dunno who made this but I found it and I thought it was appropriate:
3 apples that changed the world:
    The one Eve ate
The one that fell on Newton
And the one Steve Jobs made.

I think it's appropriate. Steve Jobs was a revolutionary who never gave up and was resilient. He helped make Apple what it is today by developing products that changed the world of technology. If anybody found a way to maximize their expected utility in the field of inventing new products it was Steve Jobs. He turned Apple around when it looked like Windows was becoming a monopoly.

To an extent, but I wasn't until macintosh that Windows came out. It wasn't until the iPod that the mp3 player market became so oversaturated. iTunes is the #1 source of only music. Tablets weren't popular until the iPad then every other company started coming up with their own versions. Same thing with the iphone. His devices may not be the best, but he made things other companies desired to emulate.

It's her list, not mine. Most of the canidates were lame. Jobs was a very influencial man but Hitchens was far more "fascinating". Trump is a lameo showoff and a fraud.
