Stephen Colbert's Super PAC Has Raised $1 Million: Will He Use It Wisely?

The political action committee formed by comedian Stephen Colbert in June -- now known as Americans For A Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow -- has been hard at work raising money for Colbert's unconventional presidential campaign. Now that it's back in Colbert's hands, he's revealing how much it's raised so far. Though it's unlikely that he's actually trying to win the race, he did claim that the money has been used to "materially influence the elections."

Colbert wrote, "Colbert Super PAC has brought in a staggering $1,023,121.24, which my accountant explains to me that is a number far above 'one,' 'two,' 'five,' or even 'many.' We raised it on my show and used it to materially influence the elections – in full accordance with the law. It's the way our founding fathers would have wanted it, if they had founded corporations instead of just a country." Do you think Stephen Colbert will use the Super PAC money he's raised wisely?

All the Republican candidates are jokes, now that Huntsman is gone. At least Colbert is funny, good looking and not senile and decrepit. The Republicans would have a better chance of winning with him than with any of the others.

No because it's not his money personally; why is this guy such a joker; why don't he stick to his comedy show. If Colbert want to be a politician; why don't he become a politician, and stop joking; are you kidding me!
Has the political spectrum become such a joke; that tv comedians are allowed to join in?

I believe most want to joke about the US political system because it has became a joke in of itself with all of the fighting and not working together to fix the problems, and then theres the fact that money plays way too much of a roll within the US government so why not joke about it to show some of its corrupt ways like "money being corporation's and union's free speech"(look up: Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission) within the political system

Comics being taken seriously as commentators is a serious indictment of our pubic (sometimes you just have to leave a typo) education system.

    colbert clown

Buffoons and jesters are, to serious individuals of substance, sources of entertainment not information and ideology.

He serves the same role to society as Jonathan Swift or the Roman commentators. Satire is vital to a healthy political process.

Colbert is a very smart fellow, about twice the intelligence of any of the "candidates" he loves to mimic. He will do as Newt, Mitten, Sarah, Rick, and Michelle will do, buy a couple of homes in Boca Raton, Aspen, or the southern coast of France or Spain, put the rest in an account in a tax haven, and make plans for 2014 and 2016.

Colbert has only spent marginally on ads or activities. The funny thing is he made one or two ad buys in South Carolina and Iowa. Most of the attention he got came from the Media covering his small ad buys, not the ads themselves. I have no doubt that Colbert will ultimately turn the bulk of the money over to charity or use it in publicizing a notable cause. His aim is Satire, not Greed.

Do you think Colbert as a snowball's change of getting elected. Theft...the taking of anything of value....the direct or indirect gain or advantage to any person.

Theft is not taking something of value, but taking something, regardless of value, from someone else, without permission. You evidently don't know what theft is.
