OAKLAND (KCBS) – Bay Area drivers could one day be tracked using a GPS-like device in their cars and taxed per miles driven -- a scenario which is part of a proposed long-range study aimed at finding ways to reduce traffic and pollution, while also raising revenues. What is wrong with successful businesses? Everytime taxes are raised on businesses they send that to the consumer, look at the taxes on an item you buy, man oh man it looks like
some just do not know how it works. Tell me does your governor pay your taxes???

not true at all. That is very much a Fox talking point. In fact business has a hard time passing any taxes or cost increases to consumers in a down economy. Tax rates in the past have been much higher and we all survived with balanced or much lower deficits to boot. Don't believe everything you hear on Faux.Taxes are at record lows and profits at record highs. The economy is booming just not for Americans that are unemployed.

It sounds to me like the elitists in the Bay Area are trying to keep the poor and middle class out of their area with barriers besides just high real estate values. It is typically the poor and middle class that live in the suburbs and commute.

I don't think they should be taxed for miles, but what I DO think they should have is more toll boths with cheaper costs at say 15 or 20 cents per toll.

If the goal is to reduce driving and raise revenue, then why not just raise the gasoline tax? You can thereby avoid a new tax infrastructure. Personally, I think ABAG should be put out of business. They are part of the problem dragging down California's economy.

With apologies to the late Andy Rooney. You ever notice how when the government proposes an idea to solve a problem, the problem never gets solved, but they keep collecting the money for it anyway?

You are absolutely correct, these politicans say they are going to do this and that then when they want to get it done who do they go too??
I heard in the last 10 years it cost $17billion to fight poverty, we still have poverty, its taken billions to pay for wars to end wars we still have wars! Everytime a politician opens the mouth especially liberals (which means to liberate) we wind up with more burdens of taxes!
Does the job get done NO! Do "WE THE PEOPLE" vote them out NO!

You should look at your history, it has been mostly demorats who push taxes, education is paid by taxpaying citizens, but there is so few with no education of history! Most unions hold hostage of the educational system, and if you knew of john dewey was suppose to be the father of modern education he was sympathetic to marxism, and if you could really get educated you would see a video or DVD by Curtis Bowers called Agenda Grinding Down America but as usual and I'm just guessing that you might be democrat and not want to find out the truth!

Isn't it odd how the same people who are crying about the big bad oil companies making a 4% profit on a gallon of gas have no problem with the government taxing it at the rate of 15%, and that's still not enough?

Are the people going to finally wake up in November and gets these criminals out of our wallets?

This is unconstitutional. This would end up taxing drivers for miles they drive out of state as well, which reaches beyond the State's or the City's taxing powers.
