It's probably one of he reasons, along with just plain stupidity. Although I wasn't spanked I have some mental illnesses but they don't affect my intelligence. Asperger's syndrome actually makes me a bit more advanced in some ways (less in others) and synestheisia just lets me hear colors and see sound.

In my Youth, a Retired Lady asked me to help train one of her Dogs thru a 9 week course.

On day one, they said,

"Never hit a Dog except for lightly on the rear, they don't feel that pain but they know they did wrong and THEY WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN."

Compare that to todays liberals, YOU CAN'T TEACH THEM ANYTHING.

Guess their mommies were afraid to spank them OR they were HIT OVER THE HEADS because their liberal parents never learned either.

I saw that, and it's ridiculous. The study shows 2-7% more adults that were spanked got mental illnesses as opposed to those who didn't. That's not even a correlation, that's random error - basically, It means that to every 100 people that weren't spanked got mental illnesses, 105 people that were spanked did. That's no conclusion, that's fearmongering.

its only like 2% so... yeah, they just play it up like its big and bad... i was spanked when i was little and i dont have any mental illnesses. and i live in the south too and most of the people i know got spanked when they were kids and they dont have any mental illnesses.

no I don't think that, but a lot of my friends were spanked and I would know if my friends had a mental illness!
