Southwest Calls Woman Out for Cleavage: Was the Airline Justified?

Airlines have a way of creeping into the news any time a passenger plays too much "Words With Friends" or allows his pants to sag a little too much. This week is no different. According to Jezebel, a woman was hassled on a 6 a.m. Southwest flight from Las Vegas to New York a few weeks ago because she was boasting too much boobage. You know... cleavage, baggage, breastage... She was showing too much of her twins. At least, that's what the airline said.

A woman going by the name Avital told Jezebel that she was told her outfit was "inappropriate" because it showed too much of her chest, but she didn't let that deter her. She boarded the plane anyway and, in her own words, "Lo and behold, the plane didn't fall out of the sky... My cleavage did not interfere with the plane's ability to function properly." Do you think Avital deserved to be called out by Southwest Airlines for having too much cleavage, or is her outfit perfectly acceptable?

I could see this if it was an Iranian airline but for a western airline she's hardly showing too much cleavage.
Now is she a crappy dresser yes but that's here problem.

That is ridiculous...who doesn't appreciate a little cleavage, or a lot, personally I think the more, the better. How dare you southwest, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Tch, if the lady was a skinny, hot model, I'm sure the airline wouldn't have said a thing.

...but, I think all women should have to ride airplanes topless.

The woman has large breasts. What was she supposed to do? Put them in checked luggage? Granted, it's not a very attractive outfit but it was a 6am flight. They're lucky she didn't show up in her jammies.... The airline should lighten up and concentrate on real security issues not someone's fashion statement.

If a woman wants to show off her cleavage, it's her decision. Let a woman do whatever she wants with her body.

Southwest should have been grateful ,if the plane went down over water they could have used her as a floatation device

Based on the picture? No way. Yes, she's showing cleavage, but it's not "inappropriate". I personally wouldn't show that much cleavage, but if I did I wouldn't expect to be told by an airline employee that I was showing to much.

But ya gotta wonder if the objection was mostly for having too much cleavage or showing too much. Judging by this pic. Even a small portion of a lot is "a lot." Which seems to be the case, since she appears well enough covered by proportion.

Really people like hairy chest and female cleavage I don't care to see your hairy chest or your breast lady. This must be the female style in clothing you have to show cleavage it OK but I have seen not too appealing to the eye cleavage. I'm wondering if it proof to show they are real women, because you never know is and is not born female. Even then you can't really tell.

    If that's the picture of the overly-endowed cleavage . . . it's not worth a second look.

The airline should stick to working on making the planes on time, safe, and affordable for all of us , not dictating dress code that they are not very good at.

Apparently these airline still think they are running a luxury mode of transportation instead of a glorified airborne Greyhound bus company.

If women want to show cleavage, it is their right to do so.

"Company policy allows agents to turn away passengers they feel are dressed inappropriately, the spokesperson said." (http://articles.nydailynews....

Now I would like to believe that the company policy also provides employees in training and in writing a definition of the term inappropriate. Generally, I go along with the fact that businesses have the right to refuse service to patrons for legitimate business reasons, as they generally only refuse to make money on people when it's merited. But without a company-sanctioned guideline of acceptable vs. unacceptable cleavage, it seems that this attempted refusal was based on Avital's personally distaste, and patrons are not obliged to impress agents in order to get on a flight. Sorry.

No way. I must say that she did need to cover her chest up a bit, although honestly, all she was doing was going on an airplane, and all of a sudden, BOOM. "Yo girl! Your breasts shows a little too much!" but you know, maybe the lady wanted to help her out according to where you were going. Cuz if she were going to somewhere like Morocco, she probably should cover herself up in order to be protected from guys who could easily take advantage of her... Say, why was the lady even looking her there in the first place??

maybe southwest needs to prescreen their female passengers before boarding but wait where was TSA?They should not of let the woman with the big breasts board the plane until she covered her big breasts up.

I agree.here's how it would play out -you are showing to much cleavage either you can put on another blouse one of your own or buy one of ours at $59.99.

To me it,s a good thing...uh hmm. But back to the point, that was a stupid reason for the airline to hassle her.

I've flown on Southwest on several occasions and I like the airline but this is just plain silly. I don't see anything wrong with that outfit that woman was wearing. And while it was a little revealing it's not like she was falling out of her dress. It sounds like to me that someone was just plain jealous here huge breasts
