Southwest Calls Woman Out for Cleavage: Was the Airline Justified?

Airlines have a way of creeping into the news any time a passenger plays too much "Words With Friends" or allows his pants to sag a little too much. This week is no different. According to Jezebel, a woman was hassled on a 6 a.m. Southwest flight from Las Vegas to New York a few weeks ago because she was boasting too much boobage. You know... cleavage, baggage, breastage... She was showing too much of her twins. At least, that's what the airline said.

A woman going by the name Avital told Jezebel that she was told her outfit was "inappropriate" because it showed too much of her chest, but she didn't let that deter her. She boarded the plane anyway and, in her own words, "Lo and behold, the plane didn't fall out of the sky... My cleavage did not interfere with the plane's ability to function properly." Do you think Avital deserved to be called out by Southwest Airlines for having too much cleavage, or is her outfit perfectly acceptable?

Already answered this in the original post. There is no reason to call her out because of that outfit.

"It is just cleavage...and She was wearing a fraking flannel shirt. I have flown southwestern and seen women in outfits that bordered on hooker uniforms and they got on the plane without indecent. I'm thinking that employee was just a douche."

    No way!
  • Larre 2012/06/22 05:42:43
I have seen much worse cleavage in my days. Airlines need to but out of that and provide much better airline service :-)
  • sunniday Larre 2012/06/22 23:32:11
No wonder this airline is going BROKE.BIG BROTHER in action.
  • Jackie 2012/06/22 05:08:33
Unless there's a knife, gun or explosives in there, they should butt out!

The woman must have really let them hang out too much. Otherwise it is not the airlines business. Airlines should concentrate on running better airline service. It has reached the point where airlines are dictating to their customers, while over charging, giving lousy service and food these days. It was once a real pleasure flying.

actually, it is the airlines business. They friggin own the damn airline, ergo, they own the business.

They may own the airline but they pander to people to use their services.

Girls all over time have been showing their chest. I don't think airports now have the authority to tell girls what they should do with their clothes. They already make you do soo many other crazy things just to get on the plane. :)

GIVE ME A BREAK! How can anybody say yes. If it were some stripper coming
on board I might say yes. But come on People, Cleavage. Remember the
Jerry Seinfeld episode, it's like looking at the Sun. You look and then that's it. Flash
    look the other way.

When is the shirt cut too low? When you can see the woman's nipples and she isn't breast feeding.

I see your point. The affected lady's situation did not have to happen based on mode of dress alone. I went to the absurd here with that picture. I do no find that attractive either!

what has it got to do with the flying of the plane, peoples right to wear what they like as long as they are not to risque, and they are not disturbing other passengers.i don't see a problem..
  • ladypat... lyndacw1 2012/06/22 04:02:21
they DO disturb other passengers! I am not a jealous, flat-chested woman. I am quite endowed, and my Hubby thinks they are mighty fine. I don't need to flaunt them in front of anyone--especially children or other women's husbands!!!!!
