now i think you might need to do some looking on it yourself since i haven't done much on reading up about it since i highly doubt it will pass
This SOPA is violation of free speech in order to control information, this is what this administration meant when FCC 'diversity' Czar said...
This act is being promoted by the 'Hollywood' and 'Music' elites who are lobbying Congress and this president to 'protect' their rights...the rights of the real 1%.
Welcome to the fight....and good luck fighting the progressive machine that YOU have empowered.
I don't like that guy who was doing the broadcast, but I do have to agree with him on this matter. I don't agree with censorship-never, never will I agree with censorship. Even when I don't like I read, I still want the right to dismiss it if I want.
Ironically main stream media's online properties are screaming NO! CBS owned CNET and ZDNet were the sources that first introduced me to this proposed censorship. No one is more opposed than they are. So one positive from SOPA illustrates that despite controlling print and the airwaves main street media doesn't control the internet. And no matter how hard they try we won't let them.
While a tech blockout seems like a sure fire way to get the masses thinking about SOPA I don't think this is a good idea. Business is too reliant on the internet. Even one day would create hardship. Alternately for one day these online giants should use every bit of their advertising landscape to oppose SOPA. The bombardment would arouse the curiosity of even the most apathetic viewers.
I think media has vastly ignored SOPA and how much it needs to die by fire. If there was any bill comparable to a Nazi state...or comparable to countries that suppress knowledge and rights......it would be SOPA. Lets go ask Iran how SOPA is doing for them, or the great SOPA wall of China....
Stephen Colbert DID have a pretty good segment on SOPA recently though.
Write your Congress and Senators. Post to other blogs. Get the word out ... STOP SOPA!
I heartily concur.

The San Joaquin Valley in California is as large as the state of Rhode Island and a few months after Obama was elected, environmentalists won a battle to turn off the water to the valley to save an endangered fish. Being totally dependent on water being piped into the valley, it began to dry up almost immediately and within months, almost all life in the valley was dying and ultimately millions of trees and animals perished causing an environmental disaster of epic proportions.
So where was the media coverage at Mopeder? Answer... only FOX covered the story and the left leaning media all chose to censor the story. Billions of dollars lost, an environmental disaster unlike anything this generation has ever seen and because it was one of our most important bread baskets... permanent damage was done as it will take years to grow those trees back and imports from foreign nations to compensate for our losses will permanently retain the valuable trade lost to the San Joaquin Valley which hurts one of our most indebted states and harms minori...

And what's worse Mopeder, if Obama did get on the ball and started aid to help the San Joaquin Valley, the media blackout about the story concealed that as well so that Obama gets blamed by everyone who knew about this which in California will definately be a campaign issue which could cost him that state in the elections this year.
You are talking about SOPA but at the same time, you are addressing an issue the political right has been hammering home ever since the first day Obama took office as the left leaning media has been censoring the news to the point that one reason FOX News does so well is that many leftwingers turn to FOX to find stories their own networks refuse to cover. And no, I'm not bashing you or the left as I do know FOX does the same thing. But when you have one rightwing network and the rest are all leftwing, that's a much bigger audience and considering how much money and viewers they have lost... you would think they would have shifted more to center and they haven't.
SOPA is a threat to the internet which passed through with the loudest voice against it being the political right because they viewed it as Obama's handiwork and his supporters.
Stop and think about that for a moment because most on the left instead of agreeing this was one topic right and left shared common ground on... most on the left either ignored it or attacked the political right when even if they were wrong about Obama in the lefts pov, SOPA represents an even greater problem for the left than the right because the political right would survive as the internet is less important for them because they possess other community resources that the left largely abandoned years ago.
And look who supported this... every network and who stands the most to gain... the television networks because they've been losing their viewers to the internet and are too antiquated to figure out how to gain that audience back.
The answer is simple... continue the development of technologies which combine television with the internet and move to a center, unbiased pov where the political right and political left have no more control over programming.
If you guys on the left don't like what I am saying... tough!
I was raising my voice trying to wake you up years ago using the San Joaquin Valley to illustrate how the networks you watch most were censoring a story they never would have censored if Bush or McCain were President... but because they did not want us to know about it, because it fell entirely on Obama, as there was no way to blame Bush or the Republicans as the Republicans were the ones fighting for the people in the San Joaquin Valley.
You want to stop things like SOPA... then stop the BS and join people like me when I am trying to raise awareness of issues important to all of us. The television networks purposely censored a story important to all of us that was the equivalent to dropping a nuke on Rhode Island but the left didn't want it discussed.
SOPA is the inevitable outcome of always attacking FOX and attacking the political right for trying to prove to you that the left leaning networks are censoring the news... is it any wonder they want to censor the internet when they cannot report stories as important as the San Joaquin Valley issue. And no, I'm not excluding the political right as FOX also censors the news... but the political right admits it for the most part and simply points out all the networks do it.
You guys on the left don't like SOPA? Then where were you when the political right was screaming about this as you could have added your voices to the outcry and even screamed it's not Obama's fault... but scream against SOPA nonetheless.
Nothing in your story is shocking Mopeder as those of us screaming about the television networks being biased and censoring the news told you this would happen as it was inevitable since they can censor their networks... but they can't censor the internet. Well, now they can.
You should have done this before SOPA was passed as had more on the left joined in the fight to stop SOPA, maybe it wouldn't have been passed.
ummm yah whatever you nut.
SOPA is the inevitable outcome of the horrible corrupt goverment running this nation.
SOPA was created by big business, backed my money and and hid by big media.
There is equal support for this bill from senators on both the right an left so to try to blame this on the left is rediculous. Especially when SOPA was introduced by republic congressmen Lamar Smith.
our First American Rights are at stake when our opinions are censored.
