Solar is the Latin word for sun—a powerful source of energy that can
be used to heat, cool, and light our homes and businesses. That's
because more energy from the sun falls on the earth in one hour than is
used by everyone in the world in one year. A variety of technologies
convert sunlight to usable energy for buildings. The most commonly used
solar technologies for homes and businesses are solar water heating,
passive solar design for space heating and cooling, and solar
photovoltaics for electricity.

Businesses and industry also use these technologies to diversify
their energy sources, improve efficiency, and save money. Solar
photovoltaic and concentrating solar power technologies are also being
used by developers and utilities to produce electricity on a massive
scale to power cities and small towns.

Concentrating Solar Power

These technologies harness heat from the sun to provide electricity for large power stations.

Passive Solar Technology

These technologies harness heat from the sun to warm our homes and businesses in winter.

Solar Photovoltaic Technology

These technologies convert sunlight directly into electricity to power homes and businesses.

Solar Water Heating

These technologies harness heat from the sun to provide hot water for homes and businesses.

Solar Process Heat

These technologies use solar energy to heat or cool commercial and industrial buildings.

This is a short lesson in Solar Energy, one of the renewable sources of energy

that is fast becoming popular. There are many alternative energy sources an

some of them are being used effectively already.

Where do you believe our sources of energy will be in the near future>

Coal and natural gas will probably be with us for the next century, for better or worse. I believe oil will decline over the next decade. I love solar energy, but it still suffers from the fact that solar energy is dispersed over large areas and times, and needs high energy density storage technology to replace fossil fuels.

NOthing will be done until it's too late. Need to keep big oil in money.

Obviously since we've now proven the US has enough oil and gas to last centuries, we are going to exploit it until other technologies, probably hydrogen, replaces it. Then we'll be the world's leading producer of gas and oil, negating the middle east. America will also produce millions of great paying jobs in the process, the royalties could pay off the national debt.

We'll all probably be dead, of major disease for the abuse We are drinking, the American Medical Association, will probably determine all this energy will be poison to Our bodies..........

We are using all of them already but the day will come when fossil energy
will need to be stopped. There are too many dangers in Nuclear Power
    and drilling for oil.

We are doing all of them now without much success because of cost . I am all solar now in one of my homes but built the system myself from scratch . Like every company in this country solar companies believe they should be getting top dollar and living in the mansion on the hill like they performed some sort of miracle . Personally I am trying my hand at cold fusion with hydrogen and think this is the way to go . If you can get the right vibration match that of a hydrogen atom and then shutting it off with laser you should get a pretty good poof on helium . With all us back yard scientist I am sure we will come up with something in not to far into the future .

they will be the same as they are now - going green is just a tax scam and always has been . Sure thanks to the liberal agenda we here in the US will continue to slow down and use less as we fall from a first world nation into poverty and desperation but other nations like China Japan and Russia will use oil to make themselves rich and powerful and their dynesties will last for hundreds of years ...long after people stop even writting about that silly little short lived nation the USA that comited suicide
