SODAHEAD STAFF: HAVE YOU NO SHAME?

Check out the HOT list.

Out of 13 politically-related questions, 12 are from Conservatives. This is better than most days. Most days there are no questions submitted by Liberals. WHY? Sodahead won't tell us.

Look at this one:

Going into it's 3rd day on the HOT list, it has 506 opinions.

My question, which ran over the weekend, now has over a thousand opinions. Within 20 hours of being published, it had more opinions than the top question listed on Page 1 of the HOT list, on that very same day.

My question, however, never appeared on Page 1 of the HOT list. I did find it on Page 2, for a very brief time, but as it received more activity, it was moved farther back on the HOT list. The last time I saw it, I found it on Page 12, even though it was more active than the top question listed on Page 1 of the HOT list.

And look at this question. It's on the HOT list and has only received 33 opinions . . . after 5 HOURS, less than 7 responses an hour!

This question is averaging less than 6 responses an hour.

This is an embarrassing situation for Sodahead. This is what they claim in their marketing propaganda:

When you only promote the views of one side, the other sides are not represented. That doesn't equate to, "many angles"; it equates only to one.

Don't you think that Sodahead has a responsibility to live up to its claims?

Hello,

Some members may feel that SodaHead is the site of an epic battle between left and right, where the only important content is political content from the left and right, and every action taken by SodaHead is influenced by some perceived political "bias" that favors one political party over the other.

When we make decisions about changes to the site, or decisions on what to feature on the rotating "carousel" pages, politics doesn't enter the picture. Why would we want to alienate an entire political party and drive them away from the site? That wouldn't be good for our traffic.

The questions you are referring to have worked their way to the 'Hot' section because of an algorithm that allows fresh/active stories with the most raves, comments, votes, replies, etc. Users voted them to the top -- SodaHead has no control over this. Questions with time stamps of 3-4 days older may not appear on the first page of the Hot section. Content that violates the Code of Conduct may be removed by SodaHead.

As always, please continue to produce good content and share your views with everyone -- there's room here for everyone's opinion, as long as we respect each other.

Although a new participant, too new to even begin complaining, I have noticed a lot of liberal responses published on SodaHead after various questions. Perhaps the country is simply coming to its senses and liberals are finally fading-out of vogue, or their tactic of getting noticed by screaming louder than everyone else in the room, is no longer effective. Whatever the cause, after all the harm caused my beloved country by rank and vile liberals, all I can say is "good riddance". SodaHead, keep up the good work!

I consider Sodahead a place to hang out while my students are taking standardized tests. If I had to pick a political label, mine would be "cynic." I enjoy annoying both liberals and conservatives, whatever the hell those names mean. Oh, and libertarians are fun to irritate too. I'll ask my ex to join Sodahead.

The evidence is pretty overwhelming, smittenkitty. But here's what I think the deal is: the wacko's that post this kind of crap - and are attracted to this kinda crap - spend A LOT more time and clicks on these sites than normal, rational people. It's the same reason Glenn Beck and FauxNews get big ratings: the "Don't Tread On Me" crowd with teabag hats in their closet live for spewage and spewing.

So the Insane Rants page here (aka the HOT list) is like honey to the crazy bees. And that's what pays the bills for SH.

As my own little protest - I hard logoff everytime I'm done. I want to log as few minutes on SodaHead as possible. And click around as little as possible. I want to minimize the click money that these jerks make off of me here.

oh, I suspect they get paid a small amount for mere eyeballs on the ad pages, and more for the clicks.

Everything they spin your way is BS. Like I said I had a post at number 1 and it went to 100 in a minute time span. It did not drop gradually. I ran a post calling them out. After about an hour they moved it back to number 1. And then the post that was adressing it that was ranked 5 dropped to page 4. Whatever SH that doesn't wash with their spin. And like I said before there is much more manipulation than just that. Too bad could have been a good site...the people who run it have their heads up their asses.

I'm not saying you don't have a point and I'm not saying you do. I will say that I see a lot of questions by both sides. The only thing I don't see is anyone actually listening.

I have seen the left complain more about what they see as bias than the right. They complain about Fox News the same way. What I wonder is why don't they just go to Huffington Post or some such thing if they are unhappy with Sodahead?

I think any place you go there is a bias of some sort to the right or left. I guess it's just the way it is. I'm not sure what the advantage is to hot lists but I guess you get more attention that way. I hop around and so perhaps I've just been hitting those lists. Not sure right now how I found your question but I'm glad I did. It's all the name calling around here I don't care for. I think once I see that, I figure the person doesn't care to listen and talk anymore, just shout louder than the other person. But I did enjoy reading what you had to say. I wish people around here were more like you whatever side they are on.

I have been on SH since 2008 and was witness to the exact opposite conditions when we elected this idiot we have in the white house. some hints on getting to the top of the hot.

Take some time and create a catchy title

Write your own content at the top of the blog making your case for the title. Rmbr, this is the part of the blog that shows up on the hot list and helps to advertise the blog

The hot calculation takes into consideration time and # of posts. Post on times of the day that the most of your friends will pick up on the post and respond. This will get it on the front page. It will be the quality of the blog that will keep it there.

You have to find what people are passionate about.

Build your friends list from the people responding to your blogs. Thank them for responding.

Block all sock puppets that you can determine. they are nasty entities whose posts reflect the quality of the blog as a whole....later

Believe me..friends in the office will not help. They use a mathematical calculation to determine the positioning. I have been watching it work for years. Get your mind off this and focus on your creativity and soon it will work for you...later :o)

Everything seeks it's own level. Why haven't Liberals been able to get a foothold on radio talk shows ? Blame ABC,NBC,CBS ? ? Hell they are all Liberal oriented news media, should they be blamed for not having sequels to Hannity or Limbaugh etc.etc. ?
It's like anything else, if Libs. don't like something then it should be outlawed, if they like it, it should be the law of the land. You can' just impose your wishes or wants for a Liberal doctrine to Sodahead just because Conservatism is out front. Ever think maybe it's your overbearing holier then tho attitudes may have something to do with it ?

The problem I have with SodaHead (and FOX, and MSNBC while were at it) is that they refuse to come out and admit their bias. There's mounting evidence right in front of us of bias and they simply deny it.
