WILL THEY LAST OR NOT: "Star Trek's" George Takei and Brad Altman were together for 21 years before being able to make their union legal. Seems like they will live long and prosper in their marriage.

WILL THEY LAST OR NOT: They seemed like a solid couple after marrying in '04 in San Francisco, when the mayor of that city allowed non-state recognized marriages. But four years and four kids later they split.

WILL THEY LAST OR NOT: The "Sex and the City" star has been dating her girlfriend for six years and been engaged for one. They say they'll marry when it's legal in New York. Wonder how long they'll have to wait?

Gay couples -- famous and non -- rejoiced on Wednesday when a judge struck down Proposition 8, California's voter-approved same-sex marriage ban, as an unconstitutional violation of their civil rights.

But rather than celebrating in the streets, celebrities largely took to Twitter to express their happiness.

"This just in: Equality Won!" Ellen DeGeneres tweeted.

Added her wife, Portia de Rossi: "I am ecstatic that proposition 8 has been overturned in the state of California. This is an incredibly exciting and historical day and a big step towards equal rights for all."

"YEAHHHHH!!!!! #prop8unconstitutional Moving Forward!!!!!!!!" Ricky Martin wrote.

Lindsay Lohan's ex Samantha Ronson also weighed in, tweeting, "Song Of The Day: Let's Get Married- Jagged Edge."

"Star Trek" icon George Takei told E! Online that he and his husband were "overjoyed."

The decision will likely be appealed and could go all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which may put California's gay weddings on hold. But by now, many same-sex couples have already taken advantage of the six states where these unions are legal.

Just like traditional marriages, some of these couples have been together for decades and others are young lovebirds.

We always assumed that gay unions would somehow be more solid and last longer since they fought so hard as a group to have that right. But in reality, relationships are frail no matter what the sex of the partners. Some same-sex couples we thought would last forever have already split, while others are still going strong. So we wonder, of all the famous gay couples, who will last and who won't?

A marrige is a marrige. does not matter if gay or straight. Celebs seem to have a higher rate of divorce it depends on compatbilty of the 2. I am divorced but not acelebrety and the reason was greed and meaness on the other side. Marrige issuppossed to be about love, caring, trust, give and take on both sides not just one. One sided unions are domed.

None of them- Especially not ellen degenerates. The first lesbo couple in Mass. to get married got "divorced" soon after you know. Real marriage is between one man and one woman. I read some fruit loop woman in Israel married a dolphin. Marriage is defined by the state which is made from its citizens which want the aforementioned definition. Gay lobbyists want to brainwash the country and get their way (it first was only civil pairings- now it is full marriage- give an inch they want a mile). They are getting to the young and stupid in schools and destroying the country.

Stupid homophobe, marrying a dolphin is not even comparable to marrying a FELLOW HUMAN BEING, not even a bit. (Oh, and on the topic of dolphins - did you know that 40% of the dolphin population are gay? I hope you meet a dolphin, and I hope it bitch-slaps you~) Also, in many cases of homosexuality, the reason behind it is that the chromosones get split in a certain way, so that the body grows into that of one sex, and the mind into that of the opposite. Imagine having the mind of a female, being trapped in a male's body, or vice versa. It's not like people just randomly get up, and decide to try out liking the same sex for a while. Grow some empathy, imbecilic cactus!

They have as good of a chance of staying together as I do and I have been married for 55 years.
They will have a better chance if it is legal in every stater.

LOL lets sing.........birds do it. bee's do it. even you and me can do it???? not. the animal world is more intelligent then these out of control, try sexual (they will try anything, dogs, cows horse) gay folks. what? if it feels good, it's ok? is this the rule we teach kids.

this elite media gay propaganda campaign has gone on far too long. they have been pushing this stuff in kids faces for to long; tv shows, magazines

now, some people get all hot and twisty when i mention dogs, cows, goats, horse's, thinking, how nice it would be to hump a horse and or dog. in the world of try sexual, feel good behavior, the door is open to anything you like.

so, not, too answer the question! their actions are beneath then the animal world and only serves their out of control lucid desires.

Sorry to spear your happy little unknowledgable mind (no, actually, i'm not sorry at all), but 40% of dolphins are gay. So perhaps, animals aren't as innocent as you think? (And PLEASE, learn the distinction between "to" and "too"...!!!)

    Gay dolphins now?
    Are you for real?
mind you, I suppose if you had to exist in that hormone, excrement, fertilizer, chemical, corpse toxic waste dump we call an ocean, you'd be a little unbalanced at times.
    What? gays are unbalanced?
No, I think that is a pervy choice in most instances. In some instances, chemical inbalance and or genetic defects come into play, and my heart really goes out to those people. The rest are pervs.
Did you hear about the cannibal hippos in Africa? But wait, aren't they herbivores? Every African gamekeeper interviewed laughed - no such thing. Til it was filmed. And the cause? Deficiencies in their diets, (discovered by passing Anthrax one to another)
So sure, in this imperfect world, I am sure some animals act out of character - and I am equally convinced that our poor to criminal husbandry and mismanagement of this planet is at the heart of many of the causes.
    Animals aren't innocent?
You need to get out more.

issupposed lol, to be which of the two to's? doesn't matter! your comment is just mean. now to the point, first, 40% of dolphins junk science statement is just that. secondly, marriage is supposed to be between a man and a woman, under God, plus, love, caring, trust, give and take on both sides not just one. thirdly, if you remove man and woman from your words, as you have done, and if we as a people, choose to love and trust animals, cows, goats, dogs, as some do, WHAT A (____________) (you fill in the blank) WORLD IT WILL BE.

As interesting as this gay debate is, this is a red herring to take your focus off the new battleground. The gay battle is lost, now it's paedophilia, the betrayal of the young.

As the dive into the pit of "anything goes" continues, you have seen cases and excuses for underage (straight) sex resulting in pregnancy and abortion, adoptive grandparents et al. As you become accustomed to dealing with this (wait for the cries of "we just need to educate people (Duh)) you, over time become desensitized to hearing about 15-13-11 year old sexual activity. Not yet. But you will. (Its happening to you now)

Then, the gay lobby will push more openly for their equal rights for the age of consent to be addressed still further./ A blind eye to prosecution as is slowly becoming the standard for the cases mentioned above - after all, aaaw, poor dears, they need support, not prosecuting. "they love each other" . Yea right.

It will be to start with, an older boy with a younger boy and everyone will feel this is OK - but will run its course and end up with depraved men buggering children "for love" - like you sometimes now hear about the teacher and the pupil running off, or "making a mistake."

It seems trendy and a lifestyle choice now, but it is just part of the disease ridden broken fami...

Children wont have the parents - look at parents now - they aint getting better, the good are becoming fewer - and they wont have society - all the laws will have been abandoned or become impotent - -and the people left picking up the pieces on a shoe string budget will speak up and be told they are on crack, they are Nazi's, they are taliban, they are religious extremists, anything so long as we go away and leave them alone to sodomize each other.

Gay Marriage. pleeeeze. its an oxymoron like "virtual reality" and would be funny if it weren't for the consequences.

    Well, we've sown the wind....

I think gay marriages will last longer then straight marriages. Look at the high divorce rate and physical abuse among married men and women. In most cases once a gay person finds another they become more like soul mates.

    you are clueless.
AIDS (GRID in those days) was spread around the world in record time by queer cabin crew banging every option available.
Gay people are not known for monogamy, they are know for many many transient "experiences" which your average 70s rock star would have been hard pressed to keep up with.
An exception here and there is just that.

(GRID - GAY RELATED immuno deficiency - name was challenged and successfully changed by the immensely powerful GAY LOBBY of the late 70's, not because it wasn't true, but because they felt it gave gays a bad image LOL - doesn't matter 30 yrs on now, as every promiscuous mothers son and adultery victim has it. and we are all ed-u-ma-cated to rubber up first before a date. Terrific.)

For the love of--!! Why does everybody think that gays only feel lust while only straight people can be IN love? It's completely unfair to the gay community to say they're incapable of loving another being. Everybody insists that gay people are pedophiles, JUST because they are gay while in truth they're not! What about all those girls who got(and are still being) raped by their FATHERS? Or all those men who raped little girls? I'm not saying there aren't gay rapists out there, i'm sure there are, but what I am saying is that there are also straight rapists. And one more thing. WHY do people think that gay people sleep with tons of people? There are straight people like that too!

P.S. I'm straight, so don't say anything about me only saying this because I myself am gay.

people gay people sleep tons people straight people straight gay

people gay people sleep tons people straight people straight gay

It makes little difference, whether these marriages last or not.
The real issue is this: Will they stay together, because to divorce would prove their unions were wrong, in the first place?
Will they stay together, just to demand that others have the same (sinful) right to marry
    whomever they please?

And, lest anybody gets me wrong, I am also against heterosexual couples, living in sin...cohabiting, outside the bonds of marriage.
Sin is sin...there is no other way to look at it.

I have nothing against gay marriage, however, I would not like to be the child who would be adopted by gay parents. How would they feel going to family events in front of their peers.
