Ronald Lauder, Former Candidate for Mayor of New York

TOO RICH OR NOT: The heir to the Estee Lauder fortune is worth about $2 billion. He’s served as Ambassador to Austria and negotiated during the Israeli-Syrian peace talks but lost a bid for NY Governor in ’89.

TOO RICH OR NOT: Despite his roughly $200 million net worth, Romney was elected as Governor of the highly blue collar state of Massachusetts. But he couldn’t win Washington in the 2008 Presidential election.

The debate
has been raging for years. Does a wealthy, privileged politician live too elite
a life to be in touch with what the American citizens want and need? Campaign
spending is out of control. Washington is in bed with Wall Street. And we have
to wonder, are these politicians too rich to rule the country effectively?

You!

it depends surely whether he achieved his wealth honestly and used it wisely. At the end of the day most who have voted for him feel he sufficiently in touch to get the nod.
Certainly in the UK Where the class system is alive and well there are a number of politician both socialist and conservative who are totally out of touch with reality and every time they open their mouths they confirm this to be true.

Bloomberg has been one of the worst mayors new york city has ever seen. His rule is much like dictatorship in our city. He has expanded the police state to never before seen levels. A record number of small businesses have shut down under his rule. Every effort to lower traffic congestion in the city has backfired and has caused even more congestion. A record number of new, useless traffic rules have been instated under his rule. New yorkers have payed billions of dollars in traffic fines since he has been in office. He supports peaceful demonstrations, then goes and shuts them down with extreme police force. He cut millions upon millions of dollars in state funds, education funds, and health funds, then went and put our money into parks and tourist attractions. (Read "times square gets a 27 million dollar makeover) A record number of school closures have happened since his election. Hiked property taxes up by 25 percent in 8 years as mayor. Bloomberg has been getting rich off of this city and its hard working residents. He has done everything he can to support the rich and nothing for the hard working new yorkers.

IThese privileged politicians do not care about the American people. And Washington has always been in bed with wall street. Do you really have to wonder if there`re too rich to rule? These people are to be public servants. Yet they only serve themselves for personal gain, power. What the rich elite want, they get. America needs to wake up. You voted these people in, vote them out . They want to widen the gap between the rich and the poor. They have succeded. The gap has never been wider than it is now. So what does that tell you? This has been going on for decades, only now , we are worried !A little too late. America , if you read your bible, you would know this was going to happen. We were told over 3000 years ago what to expect. My question to you who read this, why vote for any of them. If you think any changes are going to be made to help the American people, you are sadly mistaken. We hear of billions of dollars going here , going there. Are you seeing any of it? There is enouhg for every man, woman, and child to receive a billion dollars that would go right in to jump start the econemy. God forbid for the American people to have any money. We are just to pay for their agendas. If only we knew what they were really up to? Our protests would be much more than occuping ...

We would probably see what we are seeing in the middle east. Our politicians are so corrupt they should all be in jail. I think we should get rid of the republicans and democrats, and just make them all asses. Both sides are doing a very good job at that role. But what do you expect for Free masons, your elite.

Great question! What are you suggesting the answer to your question is, that there is another way, perhaps a better way to choose our leaders? Maybe some other indicator that they are worthy of the office? When voters start electing worthy leaders the government will change from one that takes to one that serves the people. The only problem is, most people worthy to lead don't run for political office. martian luther king

MB is rich alright, is he? Steve Jobs was rich too but his life was rich in despair. A lot of rich people are like that because they use their life time or life line seeking unstable materialistic waste. A million cry for Steve Jobs but a million death from hunger no one cry for. I'm I the only one who sense something is wrong here?
